Some kinda sketch.

I recently saw that Fallen Angel teaser flash movie, and it inspired me to draw better. So I made this really quick sketch (30 mins or so) off the top of my head of a place that I would like to be made into a level in Red Orchestra. 'Ere:

Sorry some parts of it are hard to see... I had a light pencil and wasn't drawing too hard. I darkened it for more clarity.
If people have suggestions that can help me with drawing things, please do tell. And no "omg that sux", please. :)

It looks really shy. Needs more explicit lines. Then start to work on perspective (the technical stuff, not just guesswork...tutorials are easy to find) and shading (can't do that right myself).
Oh, and, you shouldn't start with large scenes...start with simple objects, go over to organics, try interiours and finally draw open scenes with everything mixed up as you like.

Actually, I'm very good at perspective and drawing 3d objects (compared to people around me, anyway), just not in this particular sketch, because it's a quick sketch. If I could find and scan my portfolio from two years ago, I'd show you my interior art, I drew a ton of pictures of various hallways from JO. Shading is my worst part, though. I suck at that. I'm also awful at human anatomy. :(

Hehe, that's funny, for me it's completely the other way around :)

As for comments and critisism:

I think it's a pitty it lacks shading, because that could add so much more atmosphere anddepth to the picture. You already mentioned that's not your best skill so I might give you as an advise to print out your scan and practice shading on that. That way you can't ruin your original picture. But that's just an idea.

My second point of critisism is that all the rubble in the foreground is kinda generic, emotionless and indistinguishable (apart from the statuebase).
My advise would be to add stuff that actually looks like something besides just plain rubble. Things like a boot, a rifle, a teddybear, a file cabinet with papers coming out, or whatever pops up in your mind. It seems to be in a city so there can be all kinds of items roaming around.

Oh, I'm done with this sketch. All it was was a quick thing to give an idea for a level I suggested at Red Orchestra. I can start another sketch and practice on that once i get an idea. ;)

I'm thinking a dark alley...
