This is my first creature I have drawn...... his name is Johnathan. He is an ojochopede (O-Ho-Cho-Peed). These creatures, if raised right will become man's best friend... but if abused, or feel neglected; Johnathan will lay eggs in your brain. So be good to your ojochopede and give him lots of attention!

I am going to be making a series of creatures.... (they will all have an eyeball as the head.) What kind of mutant would you like to see next?

I LOVE HIM!!! Where can I adopt one? I wanna get one and train it to sit on my head all day.... 'cept when I point at people who back-talk me.... He'll then, of course, leap at them and suck all of their bodily juices out thru there face..... can I train him to do that?

I don't know...I mean, it's very well drawn, but the connection of the legs to the eyeball is just cheap. Those hairy legs would certainly irritate the eyeball.

Bah... I'm sure he'd get used to it. The simple lack of an eyelid would cause irritation... but who cares? If Gnostica was shooting for realism, she wouldn't have made an eyeball with legs in the first place. Anatomy means nothing in the realm of the Surreal.

I think he looks very "Tim Burton".

It's not cheap because of the hairy legs...these are actually quite cool. The connection itself just looks really...well, cheap, conceptually spoken.
And you shouldn't be allowed to discuss this work anyway, as you probably are a little biased...don't you think?

I realize the connection may be poor to you but I was not trying to make this creature realistic. If I was going to make it realistic I would examine what a real spider looks like and make it as realistic as possible. I was using my imagination in this illustration. Thank you for your comments.

Of course it's not supposed to be realistic, Gnostica, but even fake imaginative art is often based on what we see in reality. Some kind of ball joints to connect the eyes to the legs would probably make it a bit more convincing and probably creepier. It's something you'd have to experiment with, it may not fit the "cute" look.
