It's a misty day, and it's raining. Imagine seeing a troop of german soldiers just appearing out of that fog... :)

i don't know if the boards on the house should be vertical and horizontal... and the horizontal ones have some issues... looks like one was stretched over two widths in a spot and then they don't line up in another spot. it's getting there but needs some work.

I hate that mod with a passion, but it's more UT2k4's netcode among other things' fault than the mod's. Regardless, the map really capture's the mood of RO really well, and all you should work on is a smoother transition for the hills so they look more natural.

Unfortunately, these are all things I can't really fix. Anyone who edits UT2004 should know about this, but that house is 90% static meshes arranged in that fashion. I applied some skins to it, and sadly, that upper level with the mismatched textures is how the static mesh was made, and you can't flip or rearrange textures on a static mesh at all. You kind of have to trust that they work. :(

Also, there are two terrains making up the slope down to the bank and the bank itself That's the best I can make them match up. I'll see what I can do, if anything, though... I think these things will be overlooked while people are playing, anyway.

Anyway, I made this little sig to show off that I'm making this map for the Red Orchestra forums...

He means that the woodboard textures on the house should be lined up so they all go either horizontally or vertically, not both.

Yeah, I know he meant that, but unfortuantely, due to the way it's built, that's impossible to fix. :( You can't rotate textures on a static mesh.

Try replacing them, then rotate the actual texture file that you replaced it with?

Rotating the texture would create unnecessary texture packages, and just make the file size bigger and harder to install, for one little texture mishap. No, I think I'll have to let it slide. :( I'm sorry, and please don't think I'm being stubborn and ignoring you, but it simply can't be fixed, not without making too much trouble for a little texture problem.

dirt on the ground of the trench doesn't seem to be dark enough and doesn't match the trench walls. maybe make some more "worn away" grass since it's raining. and splash some mud up in places of the trench? and the cammo-ish "roof" on that hut doesn't look too good. maybe make a more gray/brown/dull-dark green one if it's supposed to be cammo.

UT2K4 can do so much better. It looks more like Q3 or the original UT.

Yes they do. Should they not?

And people, you all are making suggestions for things that I myself don't have the ability to do. You're asking for a new texture or a new grass mesh. I'm doing what I can with what I've got, and I don't care to set aside a month or two to learn to make good textures and models just for this map. I will change the texture in the trenches though.

BTW, JM, yes, UT2k4 can do better, but I can't. I'm relying entirely on existing static meshes and my own BSP creation to make this. I can point you towards some levels that the more experienced RO editors can make, if you like...

and yeah that cammo seems to fit better but looks a bit cartoony. i don't know... could you scale it smaller so it's more of a mesh than a... tarp with big holes in it.
