I think his trapezius muscles are too small. He's big enough for me, but the lack of those msucles make him look smaller. If you don't know what these are put your hand on your shoulder, and move it towards your neck, about half way, on top, are your trapezius muscles. Shrug your shoulders and you should feel them move. These are what can make guys look really beefed.

Theres somthing about his head that bothers me, but even so, it looks good and professional, just not to my taste.

That guy looks like a roided freak, but the muscles that slope from his neck to his shoulders are examples of AMAZING traps.

Same with these

That's what I think. Top notch WIP otherwise.

Seriously, the real time one lookes like he has orange foam all over his body. The concept art Maw may not be the best, but at least he doesn't look so friggin' lumpy.

Nice model, but yes... not beefy enough, sorry. Which Star Wars Game is this for? It'd be pretty useless if it were for Dark Forces II lol.

What for? Asking a simple question? I've read the full topic and haven't seen what it's for, I think it gives me the right to ask.

well, if its a mod for JK DF2, then why not use the original model?

because the point is to update the game so it looks better with what kind of technology is available today.

Shred, I have a serious questionsto ask you: How are you making these models? What programs? What are you basing them off of? How do you start them?

If you don't want to reveal it to the public, you can send me a PM or an e-mail, but I really need to tips so I can make things better.
Nothing to see here, move along.
2005-09-25, 9:01 AM #109
um... Shred uses 3DSMax. There really isn't any tips he or anyone else can give you except practice. Seriously, there's not really any 'secret' to any of it.

Have you ever tried making 3d models from scratch? If you have you'd know there are many ways or 'techniques' for instance, one is tracing the character off of an image, or doing it from what you see in your mind, or grabbing pieces of different models and putting them together, etc... there are different ways. Still, time and practice mean alot.

if it aint milkshape modelling, I dont wanna hear about it.
Code:
if(getThingFlags(source) & 0x8){
  do her}
elseif(getThingFlags(source) & 0x4){
  do other babe}
else{
  do a dude}
2005-09-25, 9:22 AM #113
Milkshape is a horrible modeling program.

I'm a 3D modeler, for god's sake. There aren't anything like you're talkin about. you don't "grab parts of other models" that's called 'not doing the work.' If you're doing the model based off of a real thing, you usually use an image of the model as a background and model over that.... these aren't techniques, they're basic modeling knowledge.

Somehow, I think Kirby has made abut 50 more models than you ever had, and completed them all.

You don't take items from other models to use as your own. Unless you are practicing on how to model. But anything you actually release should be brand new, right down to each vertex.
2005-09-25, 11:20 AM #116
Yeah, I have made tons of models for renderings in my day, and stealing parts is bad. Especially since I typically look at other people's work and think I could do it better. So why would I steal from them?

Well, except for the fact that you used a plugin to make the head, which probably took all of 5 minutes to do. Sure.
