Burn tool in Photoshop to make things darker.

Also, you might want to try cloning out the mirrored section in the center there.

Except for the mentioned mirrored part in the centre and the fact that it is all in all a bit blurry it looks pretty good. Some more work will do it justice.

the old one looks crappier yet it ALSO looks more photo realistic, its sharper.

Could u blend them?
Code:
if(getThingFlags(source) & 0x8){
  do her}
elseif(getThingFlags(source) & 0x4){
  do other babe}
else{
  do a dude}

New one looks a bit more like a tree.

Well I guess the old one looks like a tree, but it's an old crackly tree, yours is a young tree. :p

I would suggest adding more red like in the original and upping the contrast between the hills and valleys in the texture.

ya i know its just not right yet. i see what i can do i am working on it right now

keep in mind that sith2 will (i think) have bumpmapping...so as long as you get the color right, the sahding isn't so big an issue.

I still say the contrast and shadows is what it needs, but I will accept the decision of others, I'm known to favour photo realism over efficiency

My guess is using the old texture as a new layer and setting it to "overlay" or some equivalent in photoshop.

You made it all one solid colour. That looks flat and sort of unnatural. :p

Gyaah no!

If you want to make it accurately replicate the color of the original texture, just overlay the original texture as a color layer over the new one, like so.

I have an uncompressed version of this if anyone wants it :em321:

to tell the truth... the texture in original JK looks like the moon through a telescope but red and crappy. why not just make a new texture instead of just trying to make it bigger... if it's supposed to look like sandstone or whatever, make it look better than the original. make it from scratch or a photo or something... it just seems plain and flat. i don't know, i just never really liked that texture.

your's looks pixelated. i know it's not, because the smudge tool you used is round, but still try to smooth it out more.
