Website Re-design
2005-10-01, 12:20 AM #1
I was talking about how I used to do mapping to a few co-workers, and Massassi came up as a topic of conversation.

This reminded me that I've not yet posted links to my new job, and / or my own website re-design here.

New job...

New site...

So yeah, tell me what you think about my site redesign, and give feedback on how the Albertsons site could be improved (I didn't make it). :)

You're redoing the albertson's site? That's a huge contract--- most impressive.

From another site designer POV (me) , your site is very good as well.

looked at the source.

Code:

It's alright but it feels too boxy. I personally wouldn't feel happy if i'd made it

the albertsons site looks good... Don't really like the weird colors on the side of the other site. They don't seem to fit well.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

Lassev: I guess there was something captivating in savagery, because I liked it.

Looks quite good but neither of the designs are fluid, the albertsons site looks particularly empty at higher resolutions.

Pagewizard: Actually, Albertsons is my new full-time job, and I'm just one member of a great web team.

Detty: Sorry you don't like it. I love your design though, how the mountains overlap when the browser is shrunk-down. Very cool. Out of curiosity, which 9rules site is your favorite?

Vegiemaster: Just my way of doing a little Firefox evangelism, with some IE scare-tactics.

Sarn_Cadrill: I've debated w/ myself about the colors too, but a few people told me that it sort of sets the design apart (Maybe it's boring without?). I might redo the design a bit for the November CSS Reboot - [url]www.cssreboot.com[/url]

As far as fluid vs. fixed design, I've just never really liked fluid designs, because I can't control the exactness of the layout as well (Which is why I liked mapping). Also, the line-length gets too long at higher resolutions. I guess I just prefer to keep things more magazine / newspaper style.

I should've known that the Massassi crowd would favor fluid. ;)
