Oh, and some other crappily textured things in my living room. (Yes I realize the fan sucks. I'm going to resize it.

Oh, and uh...first level, by the way >_>. I also have an attic, but it was showcased a month ago or so. I haven't been doing much editing since school started :\

Any thoughts? Comments? Criticism? I'd also like to know how to add custom textures, if you guys don't mind answering that. Thanks for the feed back guys!

All caps in thread title is bad.

And your texturing job is horrible. Seriously, use better textures. And where is the light coming from?

Hmm, to me the corners and texture changes are too sharp. To get in custom textures can't you pack them into a .pk3 file and put it in your base folder? Then when you reload gtk radiant they should be there.

The light in the fire place was taken out after I compiled because I was careless and forgot about it. And..yeah, I suck at texturing and I'm not denying it. I was trying to find a good rock texture for that wall, and the outside wall is supposed to be kind of like dry-wall.

Zell directed me towards the Yavin pack for rock textures, and I'll try and re-texture that. And the chair texture job is just...horrid. I know.

And another hint: by typing in /cg_drawgun 0 and /cg_draw2d 0 in console, you can take screenshots without gun, HUD and crosshair.

The pic with the chair kinda looks like HL.

Good job!

Not bad for a start, I suppose. Get some patches/curves on that chair.

I was impressed at first...

because I thought it was jk at first.

It doesn't look bad at all, just some finer details need work. If nothing else, it looks like a good practice level.

Its not the size that matters, but how you use it (truth be told, if you hadn't written this below the pic, i never would have figured out what it was). In this case, an ugly ceiling fan is an ugly ceiling fan, no matter how big or small it is. Look up some real fans online and study them carefully (and please work on the textures. they need it). Finally, who ever heared of a soft chair with hard edges? Unless that thing's made from wood (or you're actually editing for JK and spliced in the bryar and hud), you seriously need to add some patch meshes to that thing.

OK, that makes sense. I think it's JKish as well, and I'm not proud to say it. The fan was rushed, and the chair is just horribly done. And yeah..I know I can't texture at all, so I'm not gonne get ticked at any texturing comments.

To curve, say, the edges on that chair, could I cut (cleave, whatever the hell the tool is) an edge of it, and you the terrain deformer or whatever on it?

Thanks for the comments guys, after I get my school projects done today I'm gonna work on that and totally re-do tha fan.

You beat me at Radiant, and that's all that matters.

No, until I can beat you with something good I'm not happy. It's like me beating a 4 year old in a fist fight, because I beat him but I'm not that good at fighting. Anyway, I'm about to start back at it so I'll post screenies in the next couple of hours.

Make the chair out of patch meshes (trust me: it might be tough, but the end result will be much better). also, just one a random fabric for the chair, rather than the bespin base texture from JO will go a long way (just get a small sample that tiled well).

Good luck! (hopefully this will turn out like the atic in the end). Btw, what exactly are you trying to create? If its a living room, the least you could do is design some decent furnature!

Yeah, living room/den-ish thing. Aiming for a full house. I'm not going to get the SS's up today, and probably not even this week. But I'll try the patch mesh idea. Oh, and Forsakahn, do you have AIM/MSN? I'd like to refer to you with any screen shots/ideas if you've participated in both threads for this level. Thanks!
