So I got bored last night, and decided to build a stargate. Well, a miniature one, anyways. And it doesn't function. But I think it looks cool anyways.

I'm going to put red LEDs on the active chevrons once I find 7 working red LEDs :p

Oh, and the inner ring can rotate.

The swirly is made from a screencap of a stargate event horizon that I printed onto transparency film; it's sandwiched between two cardboard circles. Then there's some thinner cardboard for the rotating inner ring and the chevrons.

How did you manage to do your effect on your first image Knight Rider? Was it done in photoshop? It really looks like water is covering the image...

Yeah I used PhotoShop. Use the filter gallery, and go through the effects. Forgot what that one is. Try it, filter gallery is lots of fun.

I didn't quite say that. Layer modes, rectangle tool and brush tool, along with perhaps some very simple blur and distortion filters are quite useful for some very nice manipulation work.
