If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

ok, I guess you guys didn't read my other thred... with the sculpture...

This was designed and made for a student film. I know what you are thinking.. there is no way you can use a latex mask in a movie with it's mouth open 100% of the time!

I know cause I was thinking the same thing. Well, it goes like this, the Director told me last week that he was filming this weekend... so I had from then till now to finish it... he also said that rather then take the chance at making a foam latex puppet (which would have looked really awesome and would have been really fun on my part) he just wanted a latex mask... I pleaded with him to let me make it to show expression, blinking eyes and such, but he said "no dice"... he said you will only see the creature in a picture... and int he picture it is attacking... the rest of the time it is just a shadowy figure walking around, never really showing it...

So i guess a no moveable latex mask will work for that [grumble]...

It does really suck though now, cause even if we WANTED to make a puppet of it, just for fun.. with facial expressions, and blinking eyes and such... we couldn't... cause the mouth was SCULPTED open... and if it closes, the material will bunch up around the mouth... If the mouth was sculpted closed, the material would simply stretch around the mouth when it is opened...

As for the "I want it for $100" and the "mask shop" posts, I want you guys to know that I still have ALL THE MOLDS TO EVERY MASK I HAVE MADE.... and I could easily make as many copies of a mask that I want (allow for some changes in paint job - cause I have to hand paint each one) If you guys are interested in ANY of the masks, just e-mail me at thedownward_spiral_81@hotmail.com

But be warned.. this mask was molded spicifically for looks, and it has NO eye holes. They could simply be cut in, but I'm not sure what it would look like.

You should still give me a price range for a full yoda costume with hands and feet. If it were reasonable, I'd start saving up for it and would definetly buy.

That is so awesome.

This is probably a dumb idea, but maybe if you stuck some sand to it it could give it a rougher effect. Right now it seems a little rubbery and painted-looking still.

mask is good too.
The tips at the end of shoelaces are called "aglets". Their true purpose is sinister.

I've been thinking ever since I saw how cool your work was ... you should make a Frank from Donnie Darko mask! There's always crap on ebay. Someone needs to make a good Frank mask one off these days!

Anyways, great work as always. Well since that's almost a cliche on the internet by now, so TERRIFIC WORK! AWSOME! There :) That's a bit more fitting to the awomeness level of your work lol. Keep up the good work man.

Amazing. And incredibly scary.
This needs to be your career. You could make incredible buckoos doing this professionally.

At first it's very nifty, but after a few photos I began to think "Please stop grinning!" XD Regardless, that is one nifty mask. =D

Sorryofftopic, [All your mask]s are molded to your face right? So how would they fit on someone elses face? [are belong to us]
2005-11-21, 1:37 AM #25
well, with latex masks you really dont have that problem... cause once we sculpt the mask on the head.. thats the last time we use the head cast... the latex mask is just a hollow shell... the only concern is sizing... which should be fine.. i have an avg. size head... The FOAM latex are the ones that are molded spicifically for us... as we push our lifecast into the backs of the masks.. so they fit perfectly.. so the movement translates well through the mask.
