Okay I just started the area around the confrence room.
When I start the doors I will need to make them into ASE's they have so many parts to them. Also I will need to figure out how to make them rotate open. Im also trying to figure out how to rotate brushes with out screwing them up so I can add the rails that hang over.

well as always its awesome mapping, but I hate the design of atlantis.

Its so modern day western archi it makes me wanna puke.

And congrats, between us both we're renaming this place the stargassi temple.

if anything, scaling pictures down reduces aliasing. im pretty sure these screens are the same size as when they were taken ingame.

casper, i would suggest increasing your resolution to the highest your video card supports for JA and then scale the screens down from that. or turn on some AA on your video card settings.

as for the actual map, i'd stay away from flat colors.. and "how to rotate brushes with out screwing them up" means you need to make an ASE out of those brushes and rotate them in model form.

Casper, did you get the "water" to actually be water this time? or does it still just look like water? If it's really water, that would be 100x more amazing. Otherwise, it's still a beautiful map.

Yep. Caulk water does the job.

Anyway updates. I connected the gate room to the new exterior. Once Im finished the main spire. I will make the water match the skybox change the lighting and make ases out of the other buildings.

Shame about the sparklies and the ugly sky. I assume you'll be using alphaMod volumes to cover up the water edges? Because if you do, use a water texture that fits with the surrounding skybox.

Whats an alpha mod? Explain please. because currently I have no way of covering the edges.

Anyway the main spire its almost complete. Just need to detail it.

Will do. Been adding more detail to the skyscrapers, Adjusted the lighting to look like an evening in Atlantis.

And if you close enough you will actually be able to see the balcony to the gate room right above that stained glass window.

How about we team up? If ever get to modeling the Atlantian computer's DHD, and such. Could you convert them into MD3 format. I'd like to use them.

Casper, I love your work.

the Attention to detail, the choice of lighting and colors and the awesome textures really make it look like atlantis from the show.

I've got one question tho, I've played your previous maps and I can never get the shaders to glow like they do in your screenshots, I always get stale crappy white lights ut no fancy glows. how?

Dynamic glow. If your video card supports it it should be in "more video options"

I agree. I think the Stargate people f***ed up bad when they designed it, b/c it looks like a high-tech facility on Earth, not some ancient/alien city. Since when to the ancients use florescent light panels in the ceilings?

I would have rather seen it made of more stone-like materials with high-tech things here and there.
