Ferrari 430
2005-12-12, 10:08 AM #1
Ok, well I scratched the Skyline project cause.. well it was my first car and my skills have gotten slightly better since then and there was just too much stuff to fix.

Here is my 2nd car, Ferrari 430.

And for reference if you've never seen one of these before. Which I haven't untill I started it. Here's a shot of the real thing.

Looks awesome as usual zan.

I have a ? though, when you model a car, do you do the separate body panels and then put it all together, or can you continue from where you are? I just ask because there aren't any lines where you stopped and I know nothing about 3D modeling. :p
gbk is 50 probably

MB IS FAT

I usually keep the whole body as one untill I'm ready to make all the panel seperations.

Like right now I just made the hood, but it's "molded" into the body. I'll go through and detach the polies from the object and make the hood it's own object. Then a bit of modifing and it will look like it is a hood seperate from the body.

Is Street3 in a world where everyone can afford gajillion dollar sports cars? You should make some rusty old Mini Coopers and Peugeots.... you know, to add some Euro equallibrium.

A Fiat Multipla, it can't get more European than that. =O

Yeah.. version 6.

I should have an update today as soon as I can get all the mesh errors out of the rear bumper. Otherwise, the shell of the car is pretty much finished.

I gotta add the rear bumper cover reflectors, but the shell is about complete. I'll start on the windows next... then I still gotta do the body panel seperation (doors, hood, ect)

But, there are still a couple kinks I gotta work out on it first before I move on.

i dont know why people think red is such a sexy colour on cars. most of the time they just look dumb.

Well first off this color is an unlikely color to see on the road. bright red flops to black. So I can get alot of reflection off it. Reason why red has always been linked to Ferrari cars is because of an old history of Italian racing.

I love it when it's crazy shiny like that. It makes it look awesome.

I would've made it a different color though.
Very funny Scotty. Now beam down my clothes.

I re-read your post Ford.. and next time you post something in the showcase forum why don't you ask yourself. "Is this critisism going to help this person out?"

I dont want your opinion on what color you think the car shouldn't be. I'll be the judge of that.

In my opinion a Ferrari has to be red. XD It's tradition! And all that. So no complaints about the ubershiny red Ferrari here.

And nice model, by the way. :D

I still think you all need to realize what a critique is.

You dont always have to say "omg amazing"

sometimes critiques can be "well I like it, but why not try this and see how it looks"
Especially since its a 3d render, you could EASILY change the color of that. Theres no need to attack Ford for having an opinion like that.

Oh and sometimes (if sometimes = always) taking advice you get from critiques helps you improve what youre working on.

I agree, I have plans to make other colors.. I did mention it was a test. I suppose I was looking for a more critique on the quality of the paint. It wasn't a color showcase. Ford it was not meant to be an attack.

BTW

Slug, I expect you to give that car a full detail now.

:) okay, but that was also for everyone else who responded to fords comment.

Anyway, the paint looks too glossy to me... I dont know how to explain it really
