Looks good, but I think you definatly need to rethink the arm proportions and especially the hand.

They look fine to me. The hand is about half the length of the forearm, and the forearm is approximately the length of the upper arm.

I think it's just the taper on the fingers is too extreme, they're too thin at the end.
2005-12-14, 5:47 PM #8
The 'taper' on the whole arm is wrong. They don't look like arms, they look like cones.

...you do realize that it's supposed to be hard-shell armor, right?

Redo the arms. You're kidding yourself if you consider those realistic.

Aren't.
2005-12-14, 7:44 PM #13
It isn't proportional. With arms straight sideways, 90 degrees to the body, the distance between fingertips should be withing 1-3 inches of the person's height (ususally). See if your model checks out.

His hands are far too small. Yes you have improved though, lots of detail.

I actually really like it, reminded me of this guy:

The design is really cool, and I think his armor is awesome. However, I do agree about the proportions of his arms, but other than that it's very cool :)

Good job, and you have improved very significantly.

that can't be very accurate...his hands are on backwards.

Naw, they are the right way. They just look really odd without skin.

No, i'm pretty sure those are backwards

It's the shading. The highlighted area is a light from behind, or perhaps above. The shadows make it look like they're backwards. It's an optical illusion.

Remember that, without the skin between the fingers, they look much longer. That's why the pinky looks like a thumb. The thumb itself is nearly invisible because it's flat against the side of the hand, edge-on.

Looks great but agree with everyone else.. Arms are a bit short, fingers are a bit thin. Also the forearm piece could be slimmed down a bit with a cool comlink on the left wrist.. But maybe that's a little too cliche

Yes, that does bring the reliability of the reference into some question. :p

You know, my body structure is way off the anatomically correct model.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

The hands ARE NOT BACKWARDS. There is no way that only JediKirby and myself can see it properly because A) You can't possibly be that stupid and B) I'm not supposed to be agreeing with him.

don't worry, I see it too. they are correct but boy is it hard to see.

Look at the 4th post. The hands are on right.

Your arms are triangular prisms, not arms. Think a slightly tapered cylinder, then put boxes around it. The arm/hand bit is just weird. The hand looks too small at the very least, and the thumb is too far back.

Other than that, it's a good model+concept+stuff. Just work on the arm proportions some.

We were talking about the anatomy model thing.

Oh. :o Never mind then.
