Wait.. what is this?
"Nulla tenaci invia est via"

It's Kyle Katarn, in Q3, holding a rocket launcher. I didn't convert him to MD3, I added support for JA's meshes to the Q3 engine. I've been dinking around with it for some time now, I've been really hammering on it for the last 2 weeks, getting bugs out, making new animations and such.

In other news, I have no idea what to call the engine, if anybody has any suggestions, I'm open. I'll credit you for the name, if I use your suggestion.

"Quake Academy" or "Quake Outcast"

Or "Quakademy" or "Qoutcast"

Only if you port it to the Dreamcast.

That's quaddamage. All he did was take the freely available Q3 source and add support for raven's model format.

"All he did"

You make it sound like its nothing :P

I think its pretty cool though

I'm pretty sure he was joking about the Quad-Damage pic. I have used a lot of models in there, but Kyle's probably the most notorious JKA model that I could have used. Sure, I could have used one of the many freely available models for JKA, but I showed a pic of Kyle because he's very recognizeable for the shot, and I chose Q3DM17 because it's like the Utah Teapot - you just gotta use it in your screenshots of the Q3 engine.

The engine works with the freely available 'OpenArena' assets pack, but ... the quality of that pack is lacking :( (it's a WIP, in alpha, so my oppinion can change.)

Oh, I have the game; I got as far as compiling and running the engine (replacing the exe that comes off the CD) then didn't bother to do anything with it. Much to my dismay, I discovered it was written in C. And lots of really nasty hacked up C too. They even did inheritance. In C.

Sweet! I hope you're planning on having it support JO and JA bsps as well.

Problem is, the Dreamcast already has Quake 3 Arena. XD

Actually, I'll be releasing the engine once I have more than just an engine to show for it.

Ideally, I'd like to make a stand-alone game, ie, not infringe on anyone's IP, and make a really cool MP, stand-alone game.

As it is, the OpenArena content pack works with the engine as a stand-alone, but the pack isn't really good, in my oppinion.

The cool part for me, is I can take animations I make using the tool I wrote to make them, and put them in the game. I just have to write something for Blender to make the meshes, and I'm set to make pretty damn much whatever I want.

Oh yeah, I forgot to speak to the Goldeneye reference.

Goldeneye is the perfect game, absolutely perfect. I still enjoy sitting down and playing it, even today.

MP for Goldeneye wasn't objective based, or even RPGish, like later Bond Games - but Goldeneye is better, all the same.

So, my point is, Goldeneye is awesome.
