Kali-Class Heavy Aerodestroyer
2005-12-30, 5:36 PM #1
The fourth of four airships I've made, the Kali-class heavy Aerodestroyer is the pimp-daddy of them all. Or rather, it isn't, since Kali is the goddess of destruction... but whatever.
So, this is just a WIP. I still have to make the quad cannons for straffing, and the deck cannons for defending, not to mention the sails and frankly I have NO idea how I'm gonna pull that off, but, here it is.
Unfinished glory.
The first shot shows a sort of isometric view of the ship, showing off the wing design (each airship so far has had a completely different wing design), and the main body.
the second shot reveals the 8 heavy cannons. A single Kali can lift an enemy wet-navy ship clear out of the water and toss it around like a... something light.
...
Shut up.

-my website has the other three Airships (Ships and Vehicles>Shiva, Fortuitous, and Airborne) as well as other vehicles. And the Wild World of Wacky Weapons, which I decided worked better on a website than a forum. Plus, some characters. Please, click, enjoy my labors of "love".

Pretty purdy. This is definitely a lot like the Shiva.

Hate to tell you, but those wings/sails aren't gonna do a lot for putting those babies up in the air. ;)

Hey, lay off man, it's fantasy.
Or, in the words of the Punk Magician: "**** YOU! IT'S MAGIC! I'M FOOLIN YOU AND YOU DON'T LIKE IT!"

-I tried with the whole "lightweight materials" and whatnot thing. Besides, big wings=big thrust.

the ship could be lightweight, and using air heaters and pressure and whatnot you could create very high pressure underneath and a constant vacuum on top.

Still not as efficient as antigravity fields and repulse generators.

Still cool.

Love the gun ports :D

  do other babe}
else{
  do a dude}

Dammit, I wish I had a big red marker that I could draw lines on that picture I already posted.
Look at the first one.
The round things on the sides of the deck in the middle are dirigibles. I guess they serve to generate lift as well as act as lifeboats.

-Basically, I didn't wanna have the same boring airships you see everywhere else (read: Final Fantasy) and decided that the required visual twist was wings.

So nothing in real life has edges?
Wikissassi sucks.

What Isuwen said, and smoothing groups can hide any edges he doesn't want us to see if that's what he desires.

I love it very much.

If I wanted it smooth, it'd be smooth. Yeah.
It used to be I'd post and people would complain there were no flat-shades. It hurt my feelings so much, I changed my entire life philosophy just to appease you all.

-Plus, smoothing groups always give me trouble. I still don't think I know how everything works in Wings3D. I could do it with Cienma 4d, but, meh. There's only so much work I want to put into impressing you people.
