For the record, my mother isn't at all fat. Call it an electra complex, but she's actually quite good looking. Furthermore, my father has NEVER taken his belt off in an attempt to harm me. I call it "Good Television Comic."

And in case you missed it:

If someone could give me the exact amount of billions we've spent, I'd appreciate it. I made up 67, and would like to be a TAD more accurate.

I don't know it off the top of my head, but you could always use "a bunch of billions" instead

I think your comic could really use better backgrounds, something that looks real or relevent to the panel, similar to, say, MacHall or AppleGeeks does them. Blurred, shape of it down but no definite details

Isn't that someone else's joke? Maybe I'm wrong and the person I remember hearing it from is you :).

And the comic title is "A Polical Strip"

I like it.

Genki: I'll be doing backgrounds for storyline comics, but for the general "theory" comics where non-realistic events happen, I'll use the mysterious all-white background.

Sab: Nope, this one's all me. Some of my jokes are influenced by Rob, Hele, S51, Spe, my girlfriend, other friends, etc.

I appreciate the feedback. I'm going to try and do an entire comic tonight, but I have no specific ideas for a comic that isn't on the storyline, so I'm not sure at all.

Billions? Dude...I'd look a little higher personally.

Overall not a bad start--the art is good at least. The humor is decent, could use improving, but I can't help you with that :p

Trillions? I'd be a little more realistic dude, personally. ;)

And if you meant tens or hundreds of billions... then blah.
2006-01-09, 5:55 PM #19
The Lemat had a shotgun barrel... but it was a 9-shot musket/revolver, so...

-I remember he asked for... was it 87 or 89 billion? Dunno. Oh, and the Electra Complex is for girls. The male version is the "Oedipus Complex" as in "Planes, Trains, and Plantains: The True Story of Oedipus Rex"

Holy ****, he likes it. That means it's ACTUALLY funny.

I have to hand it to you, DJ Yoshi, I probably would still be sketching in photoshop if it weren't for you suggesting AI. I really dislike Flash, and this seems to work real nice for me.

Oh, and the funny right now is sort of limited by lack of character development. I have lots of jokes that require characters are developed and well known, so the humor isn't so "oh.. ok" and more "Haha, that silly BSG, always hating fatties." I completely agree that the first 2 comics have been sub-par humor.

I meant hundreds of billions, though he has spent many, many trillions. More than any republican President in history. But that's neitehr here nor there...

I like it because you made a good effort into it, and it shows. The humor is...well I expect better but as it's only the first couple strips I'm sure the humor will improve. The art is really good--something a lot of webcomics lack. I think most artists put way too much emphasis on genre-based humor and inside jokes. Art and open humor are two things that make me really love a webcomice (a la PA and early CAD)

Please no political comic strips. The second one is good but I think it would be best if you stayed away from jokes about politics/Bush. Must of them fall flat.

It wasn't really totally political, really. Even so, I don't think it's political enough to warent your discourse.

And yeah, when it goes on my site, it'll say "A Political Strip - Date"

This is a comic from the beginning [but not the first] of the first story arch. There will be 1 or 2 storyline comics before this one that might make it funnier, but the general premise is that I say I'm going to my girlfriend's house in the previous strip. Strips after this will explain the sex-only relationship we have, and lead to our inevitable breakup. This is BASED on a true story of my life, so the storyline can't really be helped, but it's that much funnier for anyone who personally knows me.

This comic only took me 2 or 3 hours, which means I'm getting fast. Albiet, each frame is the same me, with just a deeper frown, it was rather quick and seamless for me.

The humor is getting there,

Try varying line widths for some items. Oh and fix that glow... Add white to it, and some blur maybe and it would look more like a monitor glow.

I suppose that if you want a popular comic, go with Aaron's advice.

If you want a good one, stick to your own humor. :p
