"shall" is the most annoyingly overused fantasy word... ever. Furthermore, your text is cliche overall.

A suggested rewrite:

"Having lived through the tragedy of life, the emptiness of being alone, and the fear of the light - This fire would barely mar my cheeks."

Dunno, that sounds rather desparate to me. She's not on to some self-immolation trip here. She's lusting for power.

Here, in the dead of this planet, where milions of Dhilani died in a single blast, she is searching for the power fueled by the restless souls of the dead.

It's some sort of infinity thing, not very close related to the outcome of the TBP storyline :)

Maybe because most fantasy stories take place in YE OLDE ENGLAND, and 'shall' was used a lot back then!

I agree with JediKirby's rewrite. But personally, I prefer the no-text version much better.

I like it, but why does she want to fight the fire with her sword? Or is she too poor to afford some kind of sheath?

The sword is more a symbol than a weapon.

The Dhilani gave these swords to some their slaves and prisoners, who then would have to defend themselves against the mighty Marnaii Dragons to the entertainment of the people in the great arena of Dhalarona Prime.

While prior 'gladiators' were no match for the 14m long beasts, Shiromy was the first one to ever beat them. She also was the last one, as an hour later the mighty Dhilani capitol was nothing but the volcanic crater you're seeing. A few weeks later a major part of the Dhilani species was extinct. This blade is the only remaining memory of their civilization.
