Yeah it looks like the Eclipse to me.
Yeah it looks like the Eclipse to me.
It is. Thats why the planet's core ruptures and explodes when the ship hits it.

Yeah, um, their point is that you called it an SSD in the topic.

And that doesn't look like anything at all to me. Looks like you took some pictures of planets/fire and smudged them in PSP.

I like it.

And for the Ship, the Eclipse is an SSD, as is the Executor, the Sovereign or the malevolent. SSD is actually not a speciffic class but a category. OK, one could argue it's to be ESSD but generally this shouldn't be the topic here.

BTW, I like that other pic you made with the Warrior! :)

Yeah I ment to ask you about the warrior before I posted the image in this thread of. Damn I am in love with that ship.

Yeah... The Executor wasn't a "Super-class" star destroyer, it was an Executor-class. "Super Star Destroyer" is just a term used for any oversized SD, but it's not the name of the class of ship; the class is named after the first ship in the series (Executor-class, because the Executor was the first of it's design. Eclipse-class for the same reason. Other classes being Allegiance, Vengeance, and Sovereign.)

So... yeah, the name of the topic is perfectly correct.
Moo.

Yeah I know, that's why ISD is really Imperator, but we generalize to "Imperial".

Interesting pics, but it still doesn't answer the question that the thread purports to answer... Exactly what's happening to it there? All I see is a glow around an Eclipse-class Super Star Destroyer, and then something firey crashing down onto the surface of what I'll asume was the world the Eclipse was in orbit of.

There were also the Sovereign-class and Allegiance-class SSDs as well? Oddly enough, I never heard of them, bah. I had only known of three classes of the SSD type. And I can only recall the basic three classes of the SD type as well. (Victory, Imperator, and Imperial-II) Of course, I got kinda turned off from the ships of Star Wars when they list any warship of 100 metres or longer as a "capital ship," which I consider to be one of the biggest jokes of the whole universe.

When you can cram that many guns per 10 square meters, 100 meters seems viably capital to me.
(Wasn't there an argument that there's an 8 km variation of the Executor class called the Superior, hence "Super Star Destroyer"?)
And it's dubious, a crashing Eclipse SSD destroying a whole world. An Eclipse can use its superlaser to do that kind of damage, but crashign into it...
Well, a republic Dreadnaught crashing into Honoghr messed it up pretty badly, so maybe it makes sense for one of the most massive SSD's in history to maybe make a dent in a planet...

-I just made a Sovereign the other day. I should post it.

Executors are debated between 8-15 klicks long, depending on where you get your info. I think the Databank says 11, and that's the number I use (although TIE FIghter can't handle higher than 8 :( ). ISDs are 1.6, and VSDs are... 800 meters? I personally don't like anything bigger than the Executors since many of them are simply people who want something bigger with a superlaser, so they make a new SD. There's a pic somewhere that I can't fidn right now that a SD large enough that the Executor can easily fit inside the main hangar, let alone a ****load of ISDs

Actually the Eclipse only had a 1/3rd power Superlaser (compared to the Death Star).

So instead of completely annihilating a planet, it would crack the crust.

Still devastating, though :D

Actually, an Eclipse-class crashing into a planet would do at least as much damage as its superlaser. It doesn't take a meteorite more than a few kilometers wide to wipe out all life on an Earth-sized planet.
