All either hand drawn on paper or with a tablet. Ormo is a continent on one of the worlds in the book-thingy I'm writing:

This picture is only 25% of the original size.

Full Size

Tools:
HB Mechanical Pencil; Tortillon; Click-Eraser; 2x 120gr A3 paper; 4x 120gr A4 paper; 0.05 fineliner, black; 0.2 fineliner, black; 0.8 fineliner, black; 0.2 fineliner, red; 0.2 fineliner, green; Felttip blue; Photoshop CS 2; Paint Shop Pro 9.1; HP Scanjet 4400C

Scanning this thing was a b**** because I only have a poor A4 scanner and the map I drew was A2 in size. Adobes Photomerge was a lifesaver, but unfortunately not exactly flawless either. After dozens of rescans I'm quite satisfied with the result. (And somehow I refrained from trashing my scanner through shear irritation and rage.) The weapons are in a rather poor quality, I might redo them some other time. But I've seen enough PSP/PS for a while.

Inhabitants of this world were in a state of civilization comparable to the Christian and the Muslim lands in the High Middle ages. The continent of Ormo was still uninhabited, until a apocalyptic event broke out that wrecked most of the world. Some survivors managed to set sail and land on Ormo and slowly civilization rose from its ashes again in the postapocalyptic world. This map dates ~2700 years after the apocalypse and the people of Ormo are entering a sort of renaissance (or at least the lands in the south-east).

Can't say much about the story, since I haven't progressed far with my writings yet. In my book the main character visits several worlds as a sort of prophet in order to prepare these worlds for an alien invasion. Ormo is one of these worlds, but I'm still at the previous world with writing. Of course I have a general idea and guideline, but that's all still in a very premature state and all subject to change.

Besides this hand drawn map I also drew some 45 maps of this continent in paint shop pro. These maps show things like the shifting of borders in the last 2700 years. Geographical divisions of land. Which languages are spoken where (all making sense with who lived where and when) And a couple dozen pages filled with a timeline with important events and names of kings and rulers of the various countries.

Yeah, me neither. But now I'm looking at it like that, the south west is a bit like the Iberian Peninsula + France. And Rockanar + Lulundi Desert is a bit like Greece + Macedonia

It is very pretty to look at. =D But geographically it doesn't make much sense, what with a dense forest being very near to a desert and such. But still, nice bit of drawing there. *nodnod*

Thanks.

As for the geographical inconsistency you mentioned. Though I don't want to say that it's all absolutely correct, because frankly I haven't studied geography, so that isn't really my thing. Some of it can be explained partly. The deserts on the continents are not like the almost completely lifeless sanddunes of the sahara, but more like the deserts in, say, California, with cacti and a large variety of small bushes. And the Black Forest, which is near 2 Large deserts is made out of pine trees. Pine trees fare well in both cold and hot environments. Maybe not that hot (frankly I don't know), but this is a fantasy environment after all, so perhaps they have even more persistent trees.
On the other hand I don't think that most of my mountainchains make any remote sense.

Fair enough then. =D And besides, it's fantasy for a reason, it's allowed to take some liberties on realism.
