"WTF is JK Weapon Arms?!?" You might be thinking in your mind.

Well, JK Weapon Arms is my latest brain child, involving moving the mouse for saber swings:

This is the latest video showing the current state of Weapon Arms.

Here we have Jerec's arm meshes, on a trooper body. Each mesh is a seperate thing, linked together in a ragdoll type fashion.

When using a weapon, your head will slightly pitch up/down/left/right, along with your arms (as a normal human body would aim), completly tossing out the unrealistic back bending feats of our old friend Kyle Katarn.

When using the saber, control changes completly. Move your mouse up/down/left/right, and your arms with saber move around your body. Move the mouse all the way to the end range and you'll look/rotate in that direction. This allows for, to put it simply, mouse swinging for saber swings.

For example, swing your mouse up->down and your arms will move from above your head, to all the way down, performing a swing. You can charge your swing for heavier hits using Fire1, but you have to release and then move in the direction you want for the best swing possible. (timing is key!)

And to block lasers or incoming saber swings, hold Fire2, and move your mouse in the general direction of the incomming attack.

I might also incorporate the arm movement in with weapons, so you might be able to swing them as an attack (Conc Smacks anyone?), and block lasers or saber swings with a weapon. But then, bye bye weapon after it sustains enough damage, and a small explosion is in your hands, lol.

I would also like to incorporate two sabers and saber staffs, with saber handle damage. Oh! Since each hand is a thing, two sabers, or even two.... imperial repeaters for example, is a snap! =D

JK Weapon Arms will probably feature a few new things, like acrobatics and whatnot, along with a few forcepowers, and who knows, items.

SBX, eat your heart out. =D

I had a very similar idea once, cept it was for ragdoll physics and/or polygon collide (ie, have every mesh on the player be a 3do with collide = 3, doing away with the old sphere collisions :-p) cept I came to one problem, nothing would animate. However, doing it solely on the arms, not a bad idea. I can't seem to be able to watch the video, however, I'm assuming the arms are not animated? I pretty sure that MotS has a cog verb to get the angle and/or position of the joints... or maybe I'm just thinkin of somethin else, but nonetheless, for JK, if they are animated, I'd sure as hell would like to know how you did it.

Heh, just like in "Die by the sword". Such a system got quite a steep learning curve, but can be pretty cool, if you get the hang of it.

Haha, I like the carachatathingie. :)

The arms are linked together, so they act ragdoll ish. When I get it working with player models, they could have keyframes applied to them I suppose, and it'd work. It's all manually programmed in, every single move, but a whole lot isn't neccessary, as the Right hand and left hand are where the shoulders, arms, and torso are orientating themselves to. It's kinda simple, but the long coding will be tweaking the system as a whole.

As for JKTA, it's supposed to feature this, yea. ;)
