Ryham's First Released Level coming soon!

I've changed a few things. First of all, the reason why the rebels would use parachutes is not because the battle plan was rushed and given no thought. The Rebels didn't even know that there were AA guns. They did know that there was a shield.

Since the Outpost was discovered at such short notice, there was no time to find the shield generator. Therefore, troops had to be dropped outside the shield to inultrate the base.

Any good tactician would expect the worst, meaning they would expect AA guns and a shield.
I had a blog. It sucked.

Why build AA guns if you have a giant shield?

Holy **** people, he's building this awesome level and there's a whole page of nitpicking about the stupidest stuff possible.

Good work, dude.

To shoot at stuff that tries to take the shield down?
Moo.

Well it could become awesome... it's just that currently that the map seems kind of... empty... and flat. Adding more variety, structures and details will help it a lot though.

No one here disagrees that his work is awesome. Our "nitpicking" as you call it is usually our constructive criticism, which we provide because we LIKE the work and want to see it come out as best as possible. When someone takes the time to give good criticism or suggestions, it's a sign that they CARE, not that they're nitpicking.

Great work so far. I'm really looking forward to its release. And though I haven't the slightest clue as to how you should fix this, I think I must agree-- It is far too barren.
Anyway, looking awesome.

Oh, and that thing in screenshot 3 is a pavilian, which is good for eating lunch and hanging out, even if it's raining or if its a hot day - basically, it's a shelter.

Actually, I kinda wish I had one! :p

Looks interesting!

But can you do something about the "speakers?" Prehaps add a command post? How about more variety of trees?

I'm still looking for decent tree models. The models I have now are temporary.

I've already contacted Friend14 about the tree models, but he still hasn't responded. I've also heard that Ruthven is a good modeler. However, he completely ignored my post about looking for tree modelers when he posted on my thread. :(

And what's wrong with speakers? :confused: There's nothing wrong with listening to music while eating/hanging out. If you think there is, then just let me know.

Friend 14 and I have both worked on Conifers, not normal trees.

the only normal rounder trees I have made are simple flat boxes with tree textures that are meant only for distant viewing.

anyway, i didnt ignore the post, I just saw the 2 soliders making fun of the other guy and had to post it :p
Code:

  do her}

  do other babe}

the madaventors tree pack has the best trees on massassi, imho.

http://files.massassi.org/3do/madaventors_trees.zip
http://www.massassi.net/cgi-bin/screenshot.cgi?3dos/screenshots/madatrees.jpg

the level overall looks pretty good. still needs more details, but being from nebraska, i can say that there's nothing unnatural about large flat areas.

You're all being too vague when you say "more detail". :confused:

I'm trying to add more trees, if that's what you mean, and I'm trying to make hills, but you'll need to elaborate on me needing "more detail."

Something other than a stretched out mat on a flat surface with ugly 3DOs slapped in. JK is far too old for such primitive archi, and it wouldn't be difficult at all to incorporate some breakable 3DO wood buildings to be blown appart in a similar fashion to SM_SithLord's map for the HLP. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you honestly NEED to play this map.

For those who will *****: I avoided posting in this thread because no one would see my post as helpful. But now he asked, so I'm answering.

Alot of you have said that the level is too "flat", but as I like to say, just because you can do it doesn't mean you have to.

I do have to put in alot of effort if I'm going to get good reviews, but I don't have to put in LOADS and LOADs of detailed architecture and complex landscapes. But rest assured that I am putting in effort and I'm doing what I can to make the level FUN.

Hey cut the guy a break. This level > JHS. Besides, I like the new style of gameplay-parachuting and stuff. Try to make a good parachuting level without some degree of flatness. The only real solutions are to either make it all a sky texture or 3dos or good textures.
This is retarded, and I mean drooling at the mouth
