Defying the laws of sunday, I've become PRODUCTIVE! I took to heart what a few people at the PA forums said [Mind you, 3 of them said this, the rest said 'omg sucks'] and decided to draw up some character sketches of my character, BSG. Needless to say, it was a good idea, as I've found a much better [slightly different] look for him. I've comes the front of his hair over to the left [Which I' myself have actually been doing recently, except to the right.] and given him a more anime-ish mouth. I really like where he's going, and am really really starting to like the entire concept of sketch art.

With that, this is my first character sketch I've ever done. Usually I skip straight to solid straight lines, and have been neglecting my true potential because of that.



I'm going to import it into AI and see if I cant get some sexy inking done today, as well. Any suggestions? I wonder if the fist is too low detail? I sort of like it that way, but it seems inconsistant with the pointing finger and whatnot. Mind you, I suck at hands.

Suggestions? Comments? Catloaf?

I won't be drawing him with legs often, so I'll tackle that when I need to.

With the hands I don't think it's a matter of detail so much as a matter of shading. If you shae it it will make up for the lack of detail and in my opinion will probably look even better in its simplicity.

Maybe not, justa thought.

It's snooty by thinking someone would wanna see that steaming pile of ****! Lol, jk, anyways looks good, lets see it colored.

If I was an artist I'd sign my work, if only because it would mean anyone trying to steal it would have to do a tiny bit of work erasing to get the signature off. Although I suppose that would mean I wouldn't be able to catch him by looking for hotlinks...

Anyone remember aocowner, the guy who said he made a Zelda: Ocarina of Time mod for JO and later said he made a high poly TIE Fighter model? I remember when we were looking into the screens he posted of the TIE Fighter. We found the author and he showed us a watermark he put in the image that aocowner hadn't spotted. That was great fun pointing it out in the thread.

Kirb- Its just an opinion. I just think its kind of obnoxious personally. I dont like when the signature stands out more (sometimes) than the drawings. Its not like it even needs to be there. If someone wants to know, its not like they dont know its you, I mean you did post it.

ZZT- theres a difference between a high poly model and a sketch.

I don't know yet if I like it.

the coloring is alright, but compression completely killed whatever the real colors were. Also, the blue of the jeans and the shirt are wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy too close to each other.
