A completely different kind of Airship, I swear.

You can only go to the wingéd well so many times before it gets repetitive.
This is a completely different brand of naval aircraft for my RPG, the Cophi Sky Cruiser.

What's that you say? No funny names or nothin'? True. The Kharans take great pride in making long, romantic sounding names for their ships (Shiva class Aerodestroyer Misirlou, Kali class Aerodestroyer White Dove of Peace), but the Cophi navy is nearly entirely conscripted and indocrinated... indoctrinated? something like that. Basically, they don't have a choice. They don't even get sexy names for their big ships. They're even limited to just one ship.
But it's a doozy.
The Cophi Sky Cruiser is a deadly aircraft, roughly the size of a Kali Aerodestroyer, with three individual dirigible pods and six heavy weapons rails. The rails (the boxy outrigger things on the sides of the front pod and tops and bottoms of the rear pods) can be fitted with a variety of weapons, such as firelance or shipshot cannons, harpoon guns, etc.
Each dirigible pod is capable of independent flight and has its own engine.
The craft, and this is what seperates it from the rest of the rabble, is shielded by a touchy magical system that relies on a specialized team of sono-mages, who keep the air around the craft disrupted in certain patterns to avert enemy fire.
Like most aircraft, the Sky Cruiser is painted with blue/white cloud camo, though the exposed wood of the framework is not painted (I dunno why, I just thought it looked good).
Nobody's reading this, so, I'm the lord Jesus christ. I think I'll get drunk and go beat up some midgets.
You may notice the engines suck and are untextured. I noticed. I was thinking I should maybe mount the engines on the framework to make it look better.]
I also included a shot comparing it to the Shiva-class Aerodestroyer, which I hope you're at least passingly familliar with.

-I'll update my website with this... sometime.

I don't know. I think the blue objects conflict too much with the wires.

i think it looks pretty sweet actually.
Code:
if(getThingFlags(source) & 0x8){
  do her}
elseif(getThingFlags(source) & 0x4){
  do other babe}
else{
  do a dude}

It looks like it would fall forward, with the blue thingies up in the air, and the front part pointing down.

I can't help but shake the idea that those three blue things are giant blimps holding that thing aloft.

The framework needs to be re-worked. Better textures and les boxyness.

I like it. Seems very "outside the box". You should make it so the end with two balloons is the front, with a little pod hanging down between the two front balloons where the people are. This would justify having two balloons in the front for the extra weight from the pod with only one in the rear, keeping it stable.

Umm, I got the impression that they basically are, no?

Yup, that's what I was going for. All my other airships are big ol' frigates and whatnot with wings, so this is a change for me.
I'll scrap the colors because they look too conflicty to me too. Same basic scheme, I'm thinking, or maybe abandon the whole camo thing and go blue.
Good idea there, Dash. More of a podracer look, right? Huh.

-I must meditate on these suggestions.

it'd look cooler if the blue bubbles in the cage were above the wing-ed structure, with cords connecting the two. like a mech-version of a hot air balloon.
2006-02-18, 8:33 AM #10
Actually, that would make more sense. Now I think the whole structure would lob forward. Unless there is some sort of lift device in the front part of the ship too. >.>;;

that's cool that people still post without reading the thread. Dash already addressed that, a weight between the two balloons would justifiy them.
