United Karlot Yards Gunship. This one took me a little longer to be happy with, but I think I've now hit that point :). Slightly bigger than the packet. Like the packet, it is also largely anti-starfighter, but lacks the packet's extensive cargo capacity.

That's insanely detailed. I love.

Do you design all these ships? Either way, I'm very impressed. ;)

That truly is a magnificent giant metal space penis.

-Very detailed, very nice.

I really like this race's ships. Can you fill me in more about them? Can you make me into one? What would my name be? Would I be a badass?

They look like close combat was their desired style of combat.

Those little bumps on the sides at the back make it look too much like a star wars dreadnaught from the side.
Wikissassi sucks.

I'm fond of the Karlot vessels too :). I'll give a basic rundown.

As you've probably noted, they all follow some similar design features. Namely, sharp edged wings, spines, blisters, and either a rounded nose (as in the battleship, gunship, assault fighter, cannibal, and crescent bomber) or a trapezoidal shape (as in the cutter, packet, and assault cruiser). As Kirby pointed out, these smaller vessels favor close range combat. The packet, gunship, and cutter all have at leats one pair of bladed ridges that slice into the hull of any ship that gets too close for its own good.

This is particularly true of the cutter (which I'm going to remodel eventually in better detail than the old one I made ages ago), whose main combat role is to get in close to the enemy's flagships and use physical attacks to strike major damage to the hull. This is achieved by its powerful engines and small size. The smallest of the Karlot vessels (besides fighters), it can usually evade heavy cannon fire well enough to get a swipe in. It features 4 sets of blade ridges on the underside to gash the hull and a number of explosive tipped spines along the nose meant to ram th enemy vessel and explode inside.

The packet, featured in the last post, is the next size up from the cutter. This craft's main role is armed transport and convoy escort duty. The undercarriage of the vessel is primarily cargo storage, and the crew is small - usually 5 in the bridge and 1 gunner for each turret. It features two pairs of blade ridges - one set along the sides and another along the aft on the underside - to be used as a countermeasure against intercepting cap ships. It has the speed to ourun most of the larger AGA cap ships, though, and usually wouldn't need to resort to such measures.

The gunship is an anti-starfighter vessel usually used to compliment task forces of larger ships. Slightly larger than the packet, and slightly slower. In place of the extensive cargo holds, it features more advanced sensor and targetting equipment that increases the gunship's ability to take down enemy snubfighters. Might occasionally be seen on escort duty for more critical convoys.

The battleship (next in queue to be remodelled) is similar in design to the gunship, except it is exceptionally larger and the engine block is different. It once again features the spine-lined wings, which are really of more cultural asthetic value than function. They do, however, serve their place psychologically. An unexperienced pilot, witnessing the devastation caused by the spines of a cutter, might be more timid to attack a vessel lined with such spines. The gunship is the first class up to have heavy and medium ball turrets, and is primarily meant to engage frigate class and, in numbers of two or three, the AGA's Goliath cruisers. The battleship also has a hangar bay capable of carrying a full wing of fighters and several assault craft.

The Assault Cruiser is the largest of the Unity fleet, sizing up to the Goliath (perhaps surpassing it, I haven't come up with the exact measurements yet). It features a plethora of heavy and medium ball turrets, several anti-starfighter batteries, and warhead turrets. Two hangar bays provide a large starfighter support. This vessel's existence was unknown to the Republic until the Karlot uprising, when a month later a dozen of the giant vessels, the entirety of the fleet at the time, took orbit around Condensten, the capital. The crumbled remains of the Republic didn't offer a single shot of resistance to the terrible vessels. The main flagship of the Unity fleet is one of these vessels.

Fighters:

Dragon Fighter - this fighter existed prior to the war and was engineered by a joint Karlot-Namibian commission. Despite relatively weak shields, the fighter has enjoyed a large presence in the fleet because of its speed and maintanence efficiency. While they can't take much of a hit, their speed and agility allows many pilots to live to fight another day.

Assault Fighter - The first fighter to be designed after the fall of the Republic by the Karlots. It was made to fill a much needed combat role for taking down space defense platforms, convoys, and light cruisers. Its armament makes it a formidable opponent, and its durable hull and shields make it resistant to base defenses. Unfortunately, it suffers a loss in the speed and maneuvering departments.

Crescent Bomber - Designed around the same time as the Assault Fighter by United Karlot Yards, designed to fill the role of a space bomber. The bomb bays located under the wings utilize a drop method that allows it to work in atmospheres as well, though aerodynamically it is not optimal and suffers speed losses. It features a pair of cannons and missile racks for defense agaisnt starfighers.

Cannibal Fighter - Designed by UKY as part of the Bloodwing project, a project utilizing disembodied brains directly rigged to the wiring of the vessles to control them in a way superior to a conventional pilot. Due to the problem of disembodying their own pilots, the project also entails a division utilizing specific rare chemicals to render other species essentially slaves to the Karlot command and using these brains as operators. Because of this unconventional piloting, no cockpit is required and life support is much simpler and energy efficient. This allows the fighter to carry more armaments and engines. It also allows the fighter to take higher G maneuverst han a conventional pilot would be able to endure, and added maneuvering jets has resulted in an incredible increase in maneuverability and agility in the craft, making it deadly to even the most advanced gunners. Because the brain is rigged directly to the fighter, it can control different systems of the ship simultaneously and much more efficiently, and has also added to the extreme deadliness of the fighter.
