heres a clip of a new mp3 i started recently, currently entitled 'piano extended.'

as always, all patterns, instruments, and filters are custom - no presets or drum loops.

suggestions/comments?

Aside from needing a new piano soundfont, its good.

VERY 80's

But, hey that was the best decade.
Code:
if(getThingFlags(source) & 0x8){
  do her}
elseif(getThingFlags(source) & 0x4){
  do other babe}
else{
  do a dude}

Agreed. The 80's was awesome - the music, the movies, the politics (ok maybe not the politics) - but hey, the 80's were still great.

I really like it. Would make good theme music for a small independent/student film methinks. Have you made any other sound clips like the one with the raildets? That was awesome! :D

I here no 80's there at all... unless you mean the 80's 8-bit video game music. I know it's not 8-bit, but I think it has 8-bit culture influences melded with a truly original sound. Definately more of a cyberpunk Kraftwerk than anything else. I dig it. I don't like the casio sounding piano. Needs some reverb, IMO. Everything else is rad. :ninja:

Compress your drums, especially that kick.
Is that the pluck? Whatever the melody is on, notch it out at about 13-14khz. That's a guess, something in there sounds wrong.

Also, notch your bass line so it's not interfering with your kick. They're mudding each other up.

I'd almost say put a crisper snare in
</sarcasm>
<Anovis> mmmm I wanna lick your wet, Mentis.

all kicks/snares are compressed and EQ'd. don't believe me? can you even HEAR the kicks in this clip with no drum filters?

this is the compression on the kick drum for the beat drop - you can't tell me it's not compressed, lol

there is no Plucked! plugin in use. are you talking about the double pluck-sounding twangs that fire on the snare? if so, that's not really the melody (and its a TS404). i could tweak the LFO a little or just lower the cut so its a little less metallic. attack might need to lengthened, but i sort of like the plucky sounding twang.

i like the snare(s) just the way they are.

i'll look into notching some stuff up though, so thanks for the suggestions.

Sounds like a lot of stock FL stuff...I'd use more custom samples and soundfonts, unless you're already using some, in which case get better ones. :P

The composition, though, is quite nice. :]

I agree with Halucid on changing the piano.

Infact the who piano bit reminds me a lot of old games like SUper Hang-on.
nope.

none of the drum samples are from the packs that come with FL studio. the instruments are TS404, Sytrus, BooBass, and FL Keys - all of which are custom configs. trust me, the instruments sound a lot better than pitch-bent samples.

I like it. It sounds fresh and almost feels alive. Cool.

P.S. You know, all the great artists of Massassi should come together and make a game. We got sound experts, modellers, texture artists (which are really hard to come by). Just need some coders and a game designer...

Sounds like a TC to me.

Already doomed.

Not TC, a game. A whole new game. Sure, we also lack a strong, capable leader, but heh, I'm allowed to dream, no?

Or they could grab all the musicians together and create some kind of freely available Massassi: The Album.
nope.
