I decided to start a small project (JK, car)

Hello, everyone

This is a 3do of a car I started waay back. I just recently decided to try finishing it and putting it to use. It is still in progress as you can probably see in the texturing. It is "drivable" with a cog I put together. It's far from realisitic driving, but im working on it.

I'd like to know what everyone thinks so far.

If it were me, I would look for ways to implement a PUP file. Cool things like opening doors (or even a single door) could be vurry cool.

As for texturing, I don't think the wheels made sense to me. I mean, I know the first tires actually weren't black, but let's not get into all that. I just tend to think black and shiny where tires are concerned. I love your spoiler. The frame in general is quite fine. Where I might concentrate on modeling is the windshield area, which still may reflect a bit of confusion in construction.

In all these things, I will not say I could do better. I think you should be proud of this work.

Oh, and it would look even better with windshield wipers, depth-oriented door handles, and UNDERPARTS for all those cutscenes where the car, like, flies over the camera.

It doesn't look "bad" per se. We've just been spoiled by Z@n's car models.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

I like it. Definately needs a bit more work if you're going for realism, although atm it would look quite nice as a cell-shaded model! :D

Actually I think it looks great model wise, the textures just need work.

It's a rather nice model, and nice texture mapping as well. The doors need some definition, darken the tires, and fix the glass areas.

The tires and windows were textured with a solid color because they weren't finished. Ive been wondering what I could do to the car's body textures to make them appear more realistic.

awesome work, I think the tires could be darker.. Some texture to the mirrors.. possibliy a better headlight texture.. but its really nice.

Good work!

Hmmm I'm no modelling expert... but you could try an old trick:

You know the glow saber effect? Where you make the original shape of the blade somewhat smaller, texturing core white, while the bigger version of the blade is turned inside out. I did this on a broadsword once, and it was close enough to making it look like it shined. Neat trick you could try.
Nothing to see here, move along.

You made a broadsword? WITH SHINE?!?!

I must see this!

...what?

Anyway, the model is pretty much finished. I'd still like suggestions maybe on texture refinements, and what should the license plate say? On the technical front, I'm running into some weird pitch problem with the tires rotating that's really bugging me.

Nice. As for the license plate, something along the lines of, "NEED4JKU," maybe? Heh.

Is this where you combine both PCH and YAW, and you've already tried ROL, but there's still an axis upon which you cannot rotate your model?

Not really, the wheels used to flip 180 degrees between 90-180. It's been sorta fixed. I posted a thread on this in the cog forum.

I've done some more work on the cog and did a few tweaks to the model. I don't know how facinating this stuff is to you guys, but some have been major breakthroughts for me. The car steers like you'd expect it, try parallel parking with the boxes or something. The camera while driving the car can be moused around to any angle. I figured a crude way of keeping the car from driving through 3do boxes. I hope to build upon that for crashing.

So there's no state on the license plates, like a tiny NABOO or anything. And for the challenge point, how do you feel about inspection stickers? And by that I'm actually not asking about your personal feelings concerning ... whatever, you get it.
