At the end of Descent II, Dravis sabotaged your warp drive sending you out of control towards a sun. You survived.
Saved at the last second by the personel at the Red Acropolis Research Station, you have been given your chance to take down Dravis and the PTMC once and for all.
Unfortunately, your ship, the Pyro-GX, was destroyed beyond all hope of salvage during the core malfunction. Dr. Harper, leader of the Red Acropolis base is willing to loan you a new ship, the phoenix interceptor.

Using your new ship and it's upgraded superlaser system,

you will fight your way to Shiva station through many robots that have been infected with Dravis' virus, including the silent and deadly Old Scratch.

With any luck, you will be able to eventually "aquire" a sturdier ship than the Phoenix, possibly even your favorite model: the military grade Pyro-GX

I like the design. Is this for Descent II? It looks like the face count could made a bit more efficient by merging some of the coplanar surfaces that are split (like on the front top). Another good thing to check is cleaving coplanar non-convex surfaces in a manner that removes unnecessary vertices. I can't really tell if that was done on those upward wings, but just a friendly reminder. Got some renders?

Couple problems:
1) There's already a Descent 3, although you must know this because the Phoenix Interceptor is one of three ships you can pilot (the first you get is the Pyro-GL) and you mention stuff from the storyline.
2) Those models look like they've been imported straight from Descent 2/3. Except for the Pyro GX, which looks like it could use some work (too many polies on the laser cannons/engines). Although that could be the Black Pyro model from the Mercenary expansion for D3.

Please tell us you're just showcasing a model import tool. :X

On a related note, the long dead Descent 4. I don't see a connection to Descent 3-, actually...[WARNING: Loads slower than streaming video over dialup.]

Well I'm assuming it's for JK because its on JKHub and project is Descent 3

I'll be watching the progress on this

Ok, to answer all the questions in one post ;) The pyroGX is an old model that I made before I really knew about optimizing verticies and well, just making proper models in general. As I mentioned on the project page, I'm going to be redoing that one. As you can see from the rest of the models, I optimized verticies/nonplanar surfaces better.
This is for JK and it is based on the book descent:equinox (which is loosely based on Descent III) I am going to take a few liberties such as using the Pyro-GX instead of the Pyro-GL (I like the GX a lot more)
All of the models (minus the GX) I used ARE in the Descent 3 game actually (including the Joshbot. It shows up in the one level where you go through one of the mines that were destroyed in the first or second game, there's only one of them though, so it's easy to miss.)

And because I know someone will check, I used the models from Descent III as a base for my models. At the moment, these (minus the GX) are near exact replicas of the D3 models hence the low polygon amounts on most of them. I plan on eventually uping the detail on them, but I wanted to showcase what I have so far to guage how much help I can get from the community (and to prove that I will be working too when I ask for help ;) ).

... it's funny you say that... I'm not using a model import tool, but I did rely heavily on the original models when I made these. To the point that they could be considered near exact copies. I however DID create these all from scratch in JED starting from the default box. So you're half right, they do look almost exactly like the original models, but I did make them myself.

OH RIGHT, forgot about that joshbot. :D Haven't played it in awhile.

Well those look VERY close to the Descent 2/3 models, so I wasn't sure they weren't taken from the games. That means you did a very faithful recreation, perhaps too faithful. ;)

Don't worry, I'm going to go back and add more detail to the models ;) Cause right now, they basically are the D3 models.

Continuing on to the main hull

The guns are the same as the previous model and the rest is based on the D4 model (though not as faithfully as my other models ;) )
