The last of the AGA Starships - the Goliath-class Assault Cruiser.

This vessels measures about 1.15 km, just shy of the Unity Assault Cruiser's length. The vessel is bristling with weapons, not all in conspicuous positions. There are 25 heavy batteries, 28 medium turrets, 33 anti-starfighter guns, and 10 anti-fighter missile racks (70 missiles total).

The city-scape surface on top consists of sensory equipment, shield projectors, lesser command towers, gun control stations, some crew cabins. The Goliath features a large hangar capacity, far superior even to the Magnetizer Cruiser. On either side tehre are two fighter/transport bays, the two 'wing' offshoots each contain a hangar bay large enough to carry an Assault Transport. The docking bay on the belly can fit two Gunships or one Assault Transport (because of its width...). This gives Golaiths the capacity to launch a land invasion independently, unlike the other cruisers, who must rely on Assault Transports from the fleet to drop mechs and tanks.

Pretty pleased with how accurate it came to the original sketch. SHould be, this took me longer than any other craft I posted... build time of two days.

First one I really don't like. Can't quite pin it down, though.

That's utterly incredible. Why aren't you working for a professional game company now?

Also, did you design that ship as well as create it in two days?! Wow.
DO NOT WANT.

Yeah, it seems not as consistently designed as the other models...something doesn't quite work. Maybe it's the hard edge on the "wings"...

Those boosters in the back would probably disintegrate the rear hull. I know from experience...

I'll try adjusting the thursters farther out, or doing something with the plate they're attached to to adjust for that.

Also I think I'm going to do a bit of revision on the 'wings', because they seem a bit too plain at the moment.Perhaps that's part of it? I have one or two other ideas taht I want to put in place, including some work on the cutaway edge in the front, and relocation of some of the front batteries onto the 'wings'.

As for the design, well, it follows directly from the Frigate. I designed it immediately after (the sketches were all posted about a month or two ago) keeping a relative consistency in the way the hull was built. For example, the friagte, gunship, and goliath all have the hooked nose and cutaway directly behind it. In the case of the Goliath, it is simply extended because of the scale. SImilarly, the middle cutaway where the hangar is is similar to that of the Frigate. ALl of the designs feature a dorsal ridge on which sits the bridge, communication arrays, some weapon banks, and such. This also has a more elaborate version of the tail found on the frigate. The 'wing's are vaguely similar to that of the Magnetizer, who follows the form of the others MUCH more loosely.

I am pleased with most of it, but if you have any specific suggestions, I'll be willing to consider them at this stage.

The area right above the 'wings' seems to be part of the problem. It it looks pretty barren compared to the rest of the ship. I think if you did what you said before and also put something to break up the flat part of the ship above the wing it would look awesome. I like all the other shots so it must just be that one spot. Once again, excellent work!

I have to agree. I wouldn't pin my dislike only on that section, but it'd help, I think. It's actually really bothering me. I REALLY can't pin down what about the model is irking me. Can I possibly get a .obj or something I can open in MS3D? I can offer really detailed criticisms in that state. I understand if you'd rather not.

Personally, I think it also would add character to your already fantastic model if the very front/head of the ship were to extend down a bit. Its bluntness may be intentional, but my eyes sort of want it to look biomorphic, with a contrasting "head" section.

Man, I love it. And considering the ship's not even textured yet, I don't really have a problem with the flat areas above the hangar/wings. A bit more detail there could help, I suppose. Perhaps some little indentations along the hull?

I'm almost certain now that the wings clash with the overall semi-organic design. The wings just follow a too geometrical design. The sketch looks better, maybe take it as a reference, next time :P

Wow.

More detail over the wings would even it out, in my opinion.

The new detail on the wings creates a vast improvement, but I still think the area above the wings is a bit barren. It looks great now so it isn't a big deal if you don't add the detail there. It would just add a lot of improvement to your model if you did.

I'll think about it, though I don't really know what I could put there. Actually, I am looking for a spot to put a hatch to which the Frigate's docking tube can attach, so maybe I can find some way to do that. I have to mind the wing placement though.

And everything I model nowadays is my own design, for Bloodwing.

I would say that you leave what's above and on top of the wings how it is and tone down the front of the wings a bit. Maybe quite a bit. I think it's a bit too cluttered now, and it will help with the balance with the part above the wings.
