I have taken a giant leap into a harder world of modeling. I usually try to avoid anything beyond my techniques tuned to angular objects. I chose to model something more complicated.

The "complete" R34 I modeled earlier was about 4600 faces. There are 1700ish faces on this so far. The body panels are all double-sided which is probably why the numbers are so high. I'm aware the nose is a bit pointed. Let me know if there are any other flaws and tell me what you think.

How is it double sided? Kirby, are you addicted to meth? Anyways, pretty nice, although I can't understand why people get hyped up over ricegrinders.

It's double-sided because paladinZ said it is.

I love it, but finish it!

#1 by double sided, he means you can see the backs of surfaces. (i.e. on the interior of the car)

#2 youre a moron. Thats a lotus elise.

Hmm. I do know of a way to convert Need For Speed 4:High Stakes (and for that matte NFS3) car models into 3do format. Texturing would be a pain though! Good model, not my idea of a cool car. But hey, you're the editor for this one...
This is retarded, and I mean drooling at the mouth

It has inside surfaces.

[Edit: Oops didn't see mb's reply]

Looks nice, although you might want to round off the front (looks a bit sharp... if you made it come to an edge instead of a point in the middle it would look better).

Keep editing, you didn't read paladin's post either :p

Looks pretty sweet so far! :D

DOesn't look double sided to me. If that were the case, there would be flat faces that had two sides. He simply has shelled it out rather than leaving it as a block.

Yeah, the surfaces don't look rendered on both sides. It looks like he made full edges and backs to the entirety of it, which will probably be more work to fix than if he'd made it all backless to begin with, but then again, people tend to have trouble working in surfaces alone. I used to have a serious visualization problem with 2D surface editing. I needed a solid object to menipulate.

Yeah, I know, I thought it was a different car at first.

I made the thread title hoping to fool people into thinking it would be a lamer car until they saw the pictures.

Yeah, it's a Lotus Elise, and I chose to model it because it always looked like a difficult car to model. There's also the thing about it outrunning cars with engines twice as big, and making 5 more miles to the gallon.

I smoothed out out some of the edges and added more

Yeah, how'd you know? It's made in JED and rendered in "Anim8tor."

In my opinion, anything that does not match the irl car frame precisely is hardly of importance. This is very high quality, and I hope people start taking your work more seriously if they don't already (remember that guy who said your last model "doesn't look bad per se?").

I think this looks great. Can't wait for the wheels and the interior. You *are* going to model the interior, right?

JED has pretty signature lines. Usually I can tell because I can see the default grid in the model, but alas, you did not use the default grid. I don't know, something about the earlier pointy front and the new front screamed JED. VERY fantastic modeling. I really want to see where you take this.

I thought pointy ends was common when mirroring any rounded objects. JED was set to snap every 0.001 which was good for cleaving accuracy and good curves. I will be modeling the interior on this one. I added and redid a few things in the pictures below.

Indeed. For some reason it reminds me of a Honda S2000 but the headlights look nothing like it..
