Looks like a Hind-D, if I correctly remember what one looks like. In any case it's looking pretty damn good, though people always tell me to watch the tris and to keep things entirely quads as much as possible, so I'll pass that on to you. Maybe I'll model a little Solid Snake with a stinger and he can run around and shoot it down. :)

Model Snake if you want, but my version has the anti-stinger exhaust covers they used in Afghanistan. It'll just blow his head off :o

As for quads, I do try to keep things in quads as much as I can, but often that's just not an option or I need to cut quads in order to assure that they bend the right way. Thanks for the advice though :v:

IMO this is good enough to be CGsociety material. If properly rendered can land you on front page. Seriously.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's a Hind P, I don't think the D's had EVU's.

None taken, I know I have a long way to go yet :o

Oh yeah. To be honest, I've been having a hard enough time finding reference material that I haven't been trying to do any particular version of the Hind. And I'm no helicopter expert. Later on during the modelling process, though, I came across this website, which has had better reference material than any of the "real" helicopter photos and blueprints I could find. This one's a Hind V, apparently:

http://www.precisemodeling.com/project_mi24.shtml

Also I should say that the exhaust cover meshes can be hidden on my model, to reveal the regular exhaust holes underneath. I just thought the "Afghanistan ones" (as I've been calling them) looked cooler, and that's the important thing right? :p

That's AWEsome...!

Is that something that is intended to imported into JK?

Wish my Dad could find his old LightWave disk... I miss makin' models... (not that I'm all that good at it LoL!)
