The Void

For a long time, I have been trying to record this song. Today is it's debuting day. It's staring Halucid as well as myself. It's kinda a duet.

(yes we are aware there is a music forum. We like it here more.)

I like the music but the singing has to go. The girl sounds like she's singing through her nose and the d00der is using some kind of out-of-tune stylistic thing that is rather irritating.

Hello, hi. Gnostica IS the girl singing. And I guess that makes me a "d00der". Listen, it's cool you don't like the song (I know I can't sing, and I'm cool with that)... but it took a lot for her work up the guts to post this publicly (even if it is just Massassi). She'd probably prefer constructive criticism rather than such an involuntary flame. Just think before you say the first rotten thing that comes to mind.

Perhaps maybe suggesting ways to improve would be more beneficial than telling her that her "singing has to go". Posts like that rubbish don't help anyone or anything, except for your precious post count. Have some respect.

The melody in her vocal part is rediculously boring :/

The male part seems rushed with odd timing.

Sooo pretty much the vocals need work.

I like the music, and the voices seemed to blend with it well. The female vocal part had kind of a Middle Eastern sound to it, which i enjoyed, though it could have used more variation in pitch. I agree with the male voice having odd timing at times, and it could use more pitch variation as well. Overall it was pretty good.

Gnostica's singing is alright, though I will make a couple of suggestions:

The voice doesn't fit well beacuse the song isn't low like the voice is, it's in a different key, so they don't mesh. Also, she doesn't seem to be singing with the beat. I'd suggest changing the pitch and if that's not enough, try to mesh the lyrics with the beat more.

I hope this helps you guys out :3

(I really like her voice though.)

Oh and for Hal, well, the song would be better if you're voice was in the same pitch as Gnostica's, it would mesh the song better. Yours is too high in pitch and sticks out too much, cracking the mood that she sets.

So basically, either bring up the pitch of the lyrics, or lower the song.

I hope that wasn't too harsh or anything, I'm not very good at giving critisism. I hope it helps though. The song is great however, just needs a little work :3

And MentatMM, if you didn't know, ALOT of singers sing with their nose. It's nothing new, and it doesn't sound bad, you just need to blend it into the song.

It kinda reminds me of Lacuna Coil. I think the female voice is fine, but yeah, halucid, you just get a plus for trying :P. Also the song feels kinda "stretched"...

Gnostica - I like your voice, sounds like it needs a little training but you have some real talent their. :)

halucid - As the others said your voice just doesn't go with everything else. ;)

The music - It's not something I would buy but it seemed good, the only problem I had with it was that it was alot louder than the singing (might just be my rubbish laptop speakers) and as a result I had trouble hearing everything that was sung.

MentatMM - While your comment doesn't violate any of the posting rules you did seem to skip Gnostica's post and as a result you come of sounding mean, I could say more but I'm going to keep it polite :P

Tehee, Jason's voice is cute.

I'll be honest: I didn't really like it. It reminded me of Evenescence, and that's a bad and good thing.

I think you're both forcing your voices into a box. From what I know about singing (Read: nothing) you can't really force your voice into anything, it has to be natural. It DOES sound naselly. That is constructive criticism. You can tell that you're holding back, Hope, and it makes you sound nasely. Just belt it out and let your voice go instead of trying to sound stern and gruff.

The music is simply music I don't like. Any criticism I'd offer there would be my own personal taste.

Try a slow song, and then apply the same harmonics to the harsher songs like these. You'll see what I mean, I hope.

I gave her constructive criticism. I stated that it sounds like she's singing through her nose. I gave you constructive criticism. I stated that the music was good. I don't know who either of you are or what the back story is, nor do I really care. I'm not a musician, so I'm not going to be giving you any musical advice. I'm simply a fan of music and I call it as I see it.

I dislike it just as much when other singers do it. I'm not saying that she doesn't have potential or that other people may not like it. I'm just saying that for me to like it, she'd have to stop singing through her nose. My cousin used to get the same criticism when she was in choir. Some people just sound like more of their voice is coming out of their nose than out of their mouth, and to many people, that sounds bad.

Gnostica's post doesn't say "Hey, I've been working on this track for 10 years and I really can't bare constructive criticism" anywhere that I can see. She posted a track on a showcase forum and I'm giving a criticism. I'm not going to pretend that it's great because she's a girl or because my opinion may be in the minority.

Kirby sort of summed up my feelings better than I did.

Gnostica sounds sexy.

So does Hal.

But Hal can't sing. And WTF is with the 'annihilate'?
Wikissassi sucks.

Well I want to thank you all for good and bad criticism.. you didn't sound harsh but its just I have a low respect for myself and most of all my voice. I know it may sound as if I'm forcing the way my voice sounds but unfortunately I would like to clarify it I'm not... yes at certain points I emphasize it more but I believe that this is just not the right song for me.. don't get me wrong I love this song and I have tried hard to achieve perfection creating it but I dont believe it was built for my voice. Kirby I will try a slower song... perhaps a Fiona Apple cover, because personally thats who I think I sound like... you can not tell from this song though. I want to thank you all again.
