As promised, WIP screenshots of my latest crazy scheme. Any how, Vaporware INC. prensents:

(Please keep in mind that its all WIP and incomplete)

2024

This game may never be come a real game as I'm more playing and experimenting with the engine than anything else, so any how, I'll start with some simple plot lines:

Man kind has fought with it self for a long time, and now, the planet's surface has become very inhospitable. A genetic mutuation was caused in some humans, spawning a new race, which by its nature, hates the human race. They began their own vendetta, and it would seem that the human race would prevail, when a third faction got involved. An alien race, that had witnessed a similiar conflict on its own planet that consumed it. This race was determined to capture Earth for its own, but first it must eliminate the humans and the other race. (Races unnamed as of yet). The alternate human race can defeat the aliens, which defeat the normal humans race, how ever, the humans defeat the alternate human race (confusing :psyduck:).

I ALMOST FORGOT: The character seen in the last two in game screenshots, are the default generic character model. The weapon and hat, are mine however, as well as the scene and new wip HUD.

That alien symbol looks a hell of a lot like something I saw in UT2k4 I think it was.

Er, wait. It was Halo. Did you base it off that symbol..thing in halo?

I based it off the JO symbol on the JO poster. Could you show me that pic of the Halo thing? I also wanted to give this project a Halo feeling later on.

To be honest, I like the old HUD more than the new one. The new one seems kind of...bland.

Well, the human logo is a little goofy, in my opinion. I dunno why, something about it strikes me as silly. Maybe it's the 'hair' that the guy has. You should just make it a bald human head instead of having that silly 'hero-boy' hairstyle. I have no clue what an Alt-Human is, so I can't really comment on that. I like the alien logo quite a lot, though. Keep that as it is. :)

On the human logo, think Leonardo Da Vinci.

Regarding the new hud, its temporary, and just there so that I have something else besides the default work.

I really could use some help.

A team. Since I own have Realm Crafter, no one else needs to buy it, even though I strongly reccomend it. I want to form a team of 6-8 members (including my self), consisting of:

-Writer: (Koobie currently has this spot).

-3D Modeler: Or atleast some one who could texture my models, I suck at making my own textures. Some 3d modelling experience requiered.

-Project Manager: Some one who can help keep myself organized.

-Musician: Some one who can help make music for the game. (Techno music would be cool, a mix of Project Entropia and Space Cowboy Online is what I'm looking for. I have some musicians here, but they play awful :P).

-Idea man: Some one who can come up with fresh cool ideas, from power ups, to armors, to quests, etc.

-Webmaster: Some one who could maintain and host a website.

-Mapper: Some one who could help out with the burden of making maps (mostly interiors).

I always thought that writer and "idea man" are pretty much the same thing - eg, comes up with plot, quests, etc. Or do you mean the writer pens down the actual details like dialogue and characters and stuff?

BTW, you're yet to send me an e-mail. At least PM me your e-mail or something because I honestly don't think working through PMs is the epitome of professionalism.

And if all works well I can make and maintain the website. I wouldn't host it or buy a domain, though. But *only* and *only* if the project's somewhere at a minimum of 50% completion. I'm busy with my own stuff as it is.

I will purchase a domain name soon, don't worry about that. Hosting I'll get. I haven't sent you an e-mail yet, because I'm still unsure as to how to continue. Yes, as you put it, you make an idea sound beautiful and detailed. The idea man will just say a bunch of brief details, which if accepted, pass to you to beautify. You could do all three if you want.

Cool, cool. What about the concept artist? Awesome illustrations are needed everywhere - from the site graphics to the install proggie to the manual. Not to even mention in-game graphics.

I know it's Leonardo Da Vinci, I just think it's a bad idea for a logo. Too complex to draw a human figure just for a simple logo.

I don't know what you made those swords in, or rendered them in, but the smoothing groups look all fouled up.
Also like GothicX mentioned 'they all look the same'. They look very uninspired, and need more artistic input and most of all variety. Now you only have variety in grip by being curved or not, 2 different rain guards and two blades with only very minor varieties.
Make variations in pommel, cross-guards, fullers, etc.

I agree with the bald thingy for the human logo. Also the 'basket' around the human would look beter if it were a sphere instead of oval.

The Alien logo actually first reminded me of the logo thingy on Boba Fett's armour. But it's nice anyway, keep it.

The alternative human design looks nice, although somewhat generic.

The face obviously needs more polies. And more chin.

What are you modelling in, MS3d? I could help you on that front. It's much better for things like faces and organics than it really is for mechanicals and objects that are heavily patterned. I'm pretty above-mediocre with Wings3d, which is excellent for those non-organic touches. I'm also decent with Milkshape, though it's been a while since I used it.
I've also got some stuff just lying around that could be used.
I must object to the swords comment made earlier. I wouldn't refer to them as different weapons, though. Like, you've got three scimitar/katanas in a row there which are pretty interchangeable. And that's good. A major part of the appeal of games is the customizability. Like, if there's a slider in the options screen to change the color of the hud, that sort of thing. In fact, maybe just have them be different swords with similar benefits. We are gonna need more variety, though.

Jarl, I would love to have you with the team, and if we strive and push long enough, we will achieve our goals. There will be many types of weapons, from modern, futuristic to even ancient. Customization is the goal. I am interested in including you, and infact, I will. For the record, I still do use Blender. Probably not the best option, but its free and the only 3D modelling app I have more than 3 years experience with. I've recently tried a couple others such as Gamespace. I haven'tgot around to wings 3D, but I hear its pretty good for items and weapons, and some organics (dragons?). Any how, we are now 4 people. And 6 slots are filled. Music isn't demanding at the moment, Concept Artist, I think I may have found one.

So its cool, and now the game is on! ;)
