New shots from The Atrium's lobby... it's designed so that you may spectate the CTF action from within (thanks to fun with overlapping sectors and forced invalid reverse adjoins). You'll be able to re-enter the lobby to spectate, change teams or just take sanctuary... at the expense of having your score reset. Guns will be disabled in here. The FPS is pretty darn low in here, but who cares, it's just the lobby. :D

Progress:
●Archi: 100%
●Sexturing: 99% (some realignment is needed, thanks to Sige's buggy crack fix plugin. ;) )
●Lighting: 50% (I'm unhappy with the overall contrast in the shaded areas. I'll need to manually tweak the extra light values on many of my 24,000+ surfaces)
●3dos: 20% (Kirby made a bundle of quaint models that I have yet to texture, plus I need to make more plants/vine models)
●Cogs: 20% (Currently awaiting a Throwable Flag system from ZeqMacaw... it's gunna rock)

Hopefully not much longer...

Yeah, I don't like the contrast in the lobby at all. Doesn't fit the rest of the map at all.

And I don't see any models. At all. I cry.

The large amount of shade makes the tiling on your floor textures very obvious. Other than that, sex.

The grates could use some work. The current texture is a very solid-looking color that blends in completely with the adjacent bricks. You ought to distignuish them as different materials, 1st, and add definition to the borders between the edge of the grating and open space, 2nd.

Otherwise, phenominal. And never say, "It's just the lobby..." ;)

Yeah, Grismath is right. There needs to be more contrast among the bricks. Even a simple hue and/or levels adjustment in Photoshop would be enough.

It has a real nice Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine feel to it, which is a very good thing.

As I said in my 1st post, I too am unhappy with the lighting in the shaded areas. I'm trying to get Sige create a new plugin to go along with lighter that emmulates radiosity. My idea for it was to have the new plugin automaticly adjust every surface in the map's extra-light values between 2 adjustible variables, based on their angle correlation of a specific ghost thing (or multiple things). Sige said it was quite possible for him to create it, but isn't sure if it's worth the trouble..... oh well.

Therefore, I'm going to start manually tweaking every surfaces ex. light values by hand, starting tomorrow. Starting in the lobby, I'll work on radiosity. Hopefully by days end, I'll be able to get a new screenshot of this area that will prove to Sige it's worth his time..... otherwise, this map will take forever to finish. :saddowns:

You could also try working your extremely apparent talents on an engine that isn't 10 years old. I hear Half-Life 2 has all sorts of fun lighting features, like HDR :)

I realize this is why you left JK.... But for me, part of the fun in working in JK is making the obsolete engine look like it could compete with the newer ones. Sooner or later, I'll move to a newer engine... but I'm in no rush.

drizzt2k2, it's for Jedi Knight... that's why they mention it everywhere, and that's why they mention the lighter, on top of the fact that well, this is massassi, we should expect some type of JK work, and usually when it's not JK, we mention it :P

Heck with Quake 2, just use Source--it's the same engine only people edit it :v:

Quake 2 though has much more potential than JK, being an open source engine and all that.

That level's grand spanking, though. Good stuff.

Lighter > Light Maps.... why on Earth would I downgrade from JK??

And if I move to any other engine, it will be Unreal's next.

(edit: In your defense tho, those lightmaps have gotten much better in q2 since the days I remember.)

Hal, Gears of War is awesome, and so is that engine. But, the maps are so incredibly detailed now one man just can't do it alone!
