It as been while since I did something useful with Jed, and have decided to come up with a new project and called it 'City Compound - Not A Good Place For A Rebel'. There ain't really much to describe only that it includes a lobby, roofed gateway and a railway with a bridge. It uses the Barons Hed colourmap which is quite useful as there is big range of textures to play with. For the early development all of the textures are done to highlight detail. There is no lighting but there are doors. Its in the early, early stage. :)

The pictures are on the Editors Corner (under the name of Axecrusher not Axecrasher). Four screenies and a map of the level so far. :)

Comments and suggestions (yep I know there is no lighting)

Looks like a good start. It's a little early to show off screenshots, but already I think your level is a good candidate for the Lighter plugin. Just keep up the good work and keep adding to it. It'll start to shape up soon.

The stairsteps look a bit high...

They do look a bit high and to climb them, they have to be jumped, I'll look about making the stairs more accessible. There should be some updates in a few days :)

I have made progress on the level and have made additions and the main highlight is that a courtyard (created from a big box) as been developed and some buildings have the been created for it and one of them has been hollowed out into a bar and the access from the gateway has been made more intresting by making into an inverted corridor and the walkplayer has to pass through a gap.

The map shows all the major details:

Here are some screenies

The main couryard - the building on the right is the bar (from the outside)

The under corridor - this shot shows that its under the ramp to allow topside

Another shot of the courtyard - with gateway adjoin

The should be another update in a few days :)

There have some additions to the level and have added some animating mat with door cogs. I made little in the way of additions, but its going forward. Im going to have a break from the project and perhaps work on something else with JED. I have to try create and work an elevator and perhaps improve on lighting. :)

You know, I always thought stairs should only be optical goodness. That means, leave the sloped invisible adjoins on walkable, so that you basically have a sloped invisible ramp above the stairsteps. It sucks soooo much when you get killed only because you couldn't run up the stair fast enough.

Well, he got basic grasp on making structures, which is a good thing.

Keep going!

This project is going to be left for a while - but thanks for the comments, in particular for JediKirby for suggesting JKhub and I have set up an account on the site for my projects - however I will post images on the EC to show my creations. Would also like to thank the member who provided an answer to the Green Key forum question - cant remeber who it was but I made use of it and tried it out. :)

I'd suggest against the EC. No one checks it, uses it, or cares much. JKHub is probably a better place to post images, as there's no size restrictions either. You can img tag the images from JKHub, as well.

You need to work on the way you textured all the brick-like stuff.

Go look at real buildings and you'll see what I mean.
