I thought I'd cap off '06 by posting something we don't usually see on Massassi. Rather than hijack the desktop thread in discussion, i decided to create my own here and show off the new desktop theme I'm working on. from the earliest version to the most recent:

(click on the above pictures to enlarge them)

So, post your comments, ideas, flames, usual random comments. (For the record, the first version originally had icons for the XP and Vista drives. I'm not entirely sure why they don't work anymore).

Oh, and before anybody asks, I got the bg from deviantart, and the program I'm using to make these themes is DesktopX.

I'm not a big fan of themes (I'm one of those people that still uses the win98 look) but I must say that looks pretty cool. How does it look with dual monitors?

Isn't DesktopX one of the StarDock programs?

Happy New Year!

Ahem.

Admittedly, I'm not sure (probably because i don't have a second monitor to test this out with). I might re-work it (again) to take up the left side of the screen instead so that it works with dual-monitor setups.

Indeed it is. If i get this completed and decide to release it though, it might be as a gadget instead (a stand-alone widget that doesn't need a program like desktopX to run).

Version 4.0 is coming (watch this space).

Ok, so we skipped a version.

Presenting version 5.0:

As usual, thoughts, comments and ideas would be appreciated. For those who wish to beta-test, i should be able to get it ready for release by the end of the week.

What shell are you using? [Edit: Oh, I guess I should read more carefully. :psyduck: I don't tend to use Stardock programs... they tend to be slow memory hogs. :(]

The theme only uses 10mb of ram. Also, i am considdering releasing this as a gadget (which would be standalone, and possibly take up even less memory).
