About time you showed up! I was starting to miss you.

The textures are looking wonderful and the lighting is superb, very well done :D

Can't wait to play it :)

. . .

That is absolutely amazing.

. . .

:psyduck:

For some reason the boxyness of the outer wall stands out a lot to me.

Haha
Excellent job with texture usage and lighting. Nice stuff

One concern is that wall structure popping out the roof area. It doesn't seem like it belongs there and is somewhat distracting. (In this screenshot)

Also, the giant walls add a bland feeling to such a rich environment. Would there be any way to add some interesting detail to those walls? Like add another texture to break up the boring feeling?

Overall, I like what you have done. Alot.

Axis took the words out of my mouth. The outer wall needs to be broken up. Balconies for an unreachable building? Even a couple rooftops in the background?

Also, some of those rooms look like they're from a much lesser, boxy map. I'd really try to work on bringing them up to par.

Sky = bad.

Basically you've get an outdoor area that's coloured like it's indoor lighting with a violent stormy blue sky.

I remember you showing us the start of this map awhile ago. It looks excellent, and I see that you used the textures from your Basilica level as well. It's awesome, although the only thing I do not like are the large exterior "castle" walls. I'd much rather prefer some other type of perimeter, with maybe a Romanesque city-type skybox, to give you the feeling that you're in a small section of a huge city.

Something similar to this:

(Obviously not this small of a picture, and you'd want a fictional/cg picture that looks as if it was taken back in the period)

Actually, that pic is Greek.
Anyways, as already noted, there is more good than bad here. Lets focus on the bad, since the good is obvious.

-The sky, while a sweet texture, doesn't seem to match the overall lighting
-Outer wall seems a bit boxy
-Inner areas need 3dos, statues perhaps (Romans liked statues and plants)
-Inner lighting seems like monotonous sector light

However, it looks great already, I love the textures overall and the exterior lighting. I was just thinking there should be more maps like Basilica
This is retarded, and I mean drooling at the mouth

I love the sky, but as stated previously, the lighting needs to be considerably revised if you want it to look natural. An overcast sky like that would create soft, almost invisible shadows.

The wall looks like it belongs to the medieval area. And yeah, the sky is a bit busy . I prefer smooth skies, so I can focus on the action which takes place on the ground.

I think it's called architecture. :)

Anyway- beautiful, Daft. I would definitely agree with the castle walls, though- they're inconsistent with the general style. If you could make a skybox in Terragen, etc. it would really improve the map.

I'm sorry everyone, I'm really busy at the moment, and JK is somewhat distant from my mind. I'm not hugely motivated to finish this level right now, especially since so many people here thinks it needs another heaven-knows how many hours of work to fix it up further. Hopefully I'll get back to it sometime soon, but I'm pretty unpredictable in my editing life.
