The textures differ too much in resolution. Otherwise, it looks promising. Architecture is simple, but gets the job done, I guess (maybe do something with the ceiling in the first shot).

In my opinion they're both fine, well done! It's the 'simple architexture' that makes it look slick, so don't change it. A few 3dos, thats all I think is needed.

Reminds me of Knights of the Old Republic. Looks really awesome, and it definitely already captures that Star Wars feel to it.

Sometimes I wonder what the reaction would be if the developers of Jedi Knight saw the quality of work that was created today by our community 10 years ago. I realize that modeling, texturing, ect, have all been improved on since then, however it's the same engine, so technically all of these jaw-dropping creations could have been done back then. It makes you wonder if the game looked the way that it does now (with mods such as JKE, and very nice architecture and textures) at the time of its initial release, would the graphics of today's games be far superior if things like this had set the bar back then?

1. Even though pretty amazing-looking maps (by today's standards) could have been made on the JK engine in 1998, no one had a computer that would have been been good enough to run such maps without a massive performance hit, if at all. Keep in mind that JK was 8-bit and many people ran it with software acceleration.

2. It's certainly possible to make games now, today that would blow most games that are out right now completely out of the water, but once again, consumer technology is too expensive at the moment to run such a game and it's more cost effective to make a lower-quality game more quickly than, for instance, spending 10 years with a single engine. :]

Businesses have a lot of costs they have to offset with sales and investors they have to return investments to. Modders just have free time.

That's a good point, I didn't really think about that. Still though, it would have been pretty kick *** to see this kind of stuff back then :P

I LOVE your textures. Inspiring. If only there were more metalic gratings and objects that I could take pictures of around here.
Nothing to see here, move along.

THose textures remind me a lot of D3's textures. In fact, I think I recognise some of them as being from D3.

Me too. I honestly thought this was a DOOM 3 map at first.

Looks nice. But I think theres a clash between the higher res textures and the lower res.

yeah that is happening a little with the high detail wall textures and the base metal textures. its not quite as noticeable in game as in a screenshot though.

I think part of it is how the pics were scaled down from the original resolution. Makes the textures look a little wonkier.

Anyway, looks really good. I like how the indoor area flows with the outdoor area really well. I could never do that right without a lot of planning.

Is this for the SP Contest?
