but I'd thought I'd try my hand at the SP level contest, going more for effects and details which are quicker to do, and play to my specialties more than great textures.... <.< >.> Anyways, begining screenies, sorry for your eyes.

If you're good, you can take a guess what will happen here, or what there will be a reference too, tho granted I'm replacing a car with a grass effect, you'll still have to fight the same thing..... :V

Dynamic explosion, its scripted, and there's alot more detail to be added to the effect, but the chunks will fall differently everytime.

Anyways, here's the start of it, and what the story is about is a 4 man squad of freedom-fighters on an imperial controlled planet are attacking the imperial palace as a symbolic victory. There will be a few puzzles, some will be the type don't-really-screw-up-or-you're-dead type unless there's strong resentment towards this, along with a simple interface squad combat system, a new weapon, and many cog based effects that I haven't shown yet due to they haven't been created yet (like a good grass for the 'garden'). Anyways, I'll keep posting as I complete more.

So whatcha think?

Has potential. Seems insanely ambitious to complete in two weeks if the deadline isn't extended.

Might sound a bit rude, but why don't you wait until you have something to show next time? I mean, you have basic architecture, temporary texturing and no lighting...looks like you've whipped it together in two hours max.

The cog is fairly simple, I just have to make the 3dos and do the distance blending. Anyways, here's the begining 3dos.

The grass texture forms a repetitive pattern.

Here's some tibits to break up that pattern. The 1st screenie is a shot of the grass from far away, you can tell that its not just one flat surface.

And here is what happens when you get close up, its to reduce poly count and thing count by creating more things when you get close.
