Wow I can actually agree with TE.

Ford GT = Awesome.

But street racers will inevitably wreck the car.

I think it's ok as long as there are no other cars around.. of course the law says otherwise but that's ok.

He's actually right.

Maybe you've never seen somebody get hurt or killed. Maybe you never will.

But it happens. I've seen it, mb probably has too.

I hate douchebags that street race. It doesn't cost that much money to put together a racing event at a track, you ****ers are just too lazy to add all the safety equipment required and follow track rules.

Oh yes, we're a bunch of meanies because we don't like street racers. Im sorry, but if youre going to buy a $200,000 car, take it to a track. Driving fast on a highway doesnt make you cool.

Also this is a prime example of why street racers are dumb:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftAhdcmIHn8

1:33 after they say "211 mph!"

"I didnt even know that guy was there, I didnt see him!'

Then at 2:15 "We coulda gone even more if it wasnt for that car in front of us"

Oh yea totally, that guy was an idiot cause they werent speeding at a ridiculous speed! And who says that 219 is the world speed record for an LP640?

they shouldnt sell cars to morons like that

Look! I can push the pedal down farther than ANYONE!!! No one else can push it down as far as I can. It is a unique skill.

So let me get this straight... you're getting angry because people are telling you they don't approve of something that is :

A) Illegal
B) Is Reckless
C) Risks several lives

Listen up, bucko. I've had 3 friends die in this kind of ****. They all were the same as you, spewing street-racing idiocy ((lolol mai car iz faster dan urs)) at people who didn't agree with them. Each have told me at least once there was no danger in what they were doing. Now they are 6 feet below and probably bones and maggots now.

And you know what? Their lives weren't the only ones at stake here. Other drivers, or people on the sidewalks, bikers, children, you name it. One of the crashes nearly took the life of a baby and his mother. Had the car crashed only a few feet left of where it had, it would have rammed them both. Its pure luck that those two are still alive and whole.

But ya, we're only :master:'ers indeed.

Driving is a unique skill.

I can't remember the statistic, but something like only about 10% of the people that get into auto or motorcycle racing are talented enough to make a living at it, and a large percentage of those people ride and drive billboards because they never win.

Real racing takes time, dedication, and patience.

Street racing just takes money and a douche-bags anti-authority behavior I DO WHAT I WANT attitude.

I hate street racers. They're a really bad representation of the real racing community. I've yet to meet or hear of a professional driver or rider that condones street racing.

I was talking about the video in the previous post, the street racer. That is not a unique skill.

Drag racing isn't as easy as you think.

Of course professional drivers don't do it.. they get to drive bad *** cars as fast as they want whenever they want. The small percentage of talented (and the large percentage of dumb) drivers that don't get to experience racing as a career can't get the fill.

I have heard stories of Bobby Rahal (local to my area) getting caught driving his jag at over 140 on the high way and they joked about it on Leno.

Anyway, track days are expensive (talking road-course not drag), weather restricted, and hard to come by. And AutoX isn't the same. You can responsibly race on public streets. Say what you want, but when I used to take my car out on the weekends. We would find secluded country roads, nobody innocent would be in the path. I never saw a wreck, because we took it seriously.

Well, he wasn't drag racing, was he? He was putting the pedal to the floor while driving on a highway at night, while videotaping the speedometer.

No they aren't.

The most expensive part is getting your car up to spec.

While typically a calm driver, I've been known to participate in the occasional showdown. I don't frown upon it if the situation is safe. I raced a V6 Mitsubishi eclipse yesterday. Let him have half a second off the line but reeled him right in. I hadn't even left 1st gear when I blew his doors off and never looked back. Those things are overrated, I was deeply disappointed.
