Its nice, but theres a lot of stuff that bothers me about it.

You could probably kill about the first 50 seconds of the video. The camera work is meh. Its kind of boring. If anything, start with her walking down the hall but kill the audio, the noise of the wheelchair is distracting.

The other thing that kind of bothers me is the yellow hue. It just feels like too much to me. Same goes for the vignetting. It feels like everything about halfway through the vignette is exposed properly, but a lot of the stuff behind her gets blown out.

Thanks for the reply.

We liked the meandering in the beginning, as it's a little more true to the takeawayshows style. As far as the yellow and vignette, this was the intended style we were going for, including the blown out background. The original footage has some poor coloring, so the yellow hues add a little warmth to the somewhat washed out original footage.

And this is just our first attempt. We'll be using a higher grade camera for our next shoot, a fisheye lens, and a yellow light filter. I'm also going to use a trackchair instead of my wheelchair, so the shots should be a little more steady, and the audio a lot more clean.

Why don't you record the audio at home or in a studio and then make a video?

Because that completely goes against the point of the video? She's got lots of recordings.

I like the shot where you're lookin' at the cieling and then pan down to see her, with that building in the BG... for a second, because of the corrugated material/shadows, it looked like a big lincoln-memorial style Classical building in the near-distance... then once it resolves a bit more you see it's just a little shed type deal... that was actually really neat, even if it was just a side effect of other choices.

It worked well with the color too, made it look glorious/whatnot.

Haha :)

What is the point of the video? I can see the point of recording a live performance on stage but recording someone playing just for the sake of recording makes little sense to me. I mean no one is going to be blown away by her music becouse the quality is low. A raw video with HQ music would rock.

I'm just saying what I think. She does have talent. I just believe that you could do this a little better and promote her as a musician.

Go to the takeawayshows.com website and watch some of those. Also, overproduced music sucks, and the entire idea behind this project is to show the artist naturally and naked, with nothing but her talent in a public place. It's a different atmosphere than stage, and even more different than a recording.

Trust me, this is exactly the kind of promotion we want. We don't WANT to attract people who require absolutely perfect music. It's just as much about that music as it is the video portraying their music. It's a performance, not a promotion.
