These are a couple of photographs I took at Christmas with my mum's digital camera and only just got them back. I took about a dozen and these two I liked the best, so I thought I'd share. My photographic experience is about one semester of highschool art class, so be gentle.

They're a little grainy due to the crapness of my mum's camera. Click for bigger resolution. (1680x700)

Thanks. I've added a super-wide version of the first photo.

Very nice work on all three. The composition in the second one is better, but the first is still very nice!

Very cool, but I think it's a bit too dark. Probably not much you could have done about that with a point and shoot though. You lose a ton of detail in just... blackness.. and it just doesn't look good. It emphasizes the light, sure, but i think it would have turned out better if you were able to see more detail in the landscape.

With a better camera it could have been excellent, but I like it.

I kind of like that the entire landscape is just black. Some highlights could be cool, but i like the contrast right now.

I agree, happydud. I tried a couple different things, but I didn't have a lot of options with the camera I was using. Getting the landscape meant losing the sky detail because the light would be too blown out.
