Yeah, thanks for making me aware of it.
I was going for a Corpse Bride meets The Incredibles design, but his feet are way too thin :)

We use 3D Studio Max 9 at school.

Btw, I've fixed the eyes now so they fit better in the head.

I used poly and box modeling on this one.
It consists of 7315 polies at the moment(that's all the models in the scene(gun, saber, character etc.)) I'm using TurboSmooth on the models, and I used chamfer to define some edges(increasing the poly count).

As for Monkey Island... It was based on The Incredibles and Tim Burton's Corpse Bride. :)
I actually made a lot of different sketches until I settled on the pirate concept.

But, yes, the art style in those movies(especially Corpse Bride) is very similar to the one in Monkey Island 3+4, DOTT and other Tim Schaefer products.
