been tinkering around with this for a while and think i might try to start a web comic thingy. very basic art easy to edit.
i have done two panels/frames/comic strip things so far and wanted to get some input on it... is it funny, not funny, horrible... ect.

heres the first two ive done... oneis a thanksgiving day tid bit...

but like that snowman is a direct c&h rip, not really 'influenced by', IMO.

i tried my best to make sure i did not copy any actual C&H snowman comic, the closest thing ive found so far is the one with the snowman with an ice cream scoop in his back. i also did draw this one myself, didnt even use C&H as a reference, so i feel comfortable saying "influenced"

Otherwise, I kinda agree with Thrawn. I feel like, judging from only these two examples, that I wouldn't come back for more of this comic as-is. I know this is just a small portion or test, but I think it's worth knowing. Something with a bit more depth, some further allure, I don't know... the promise of something that goes beyond a pseudo-clever/cutesy, simply drawn comic.

I'm not sure what that would be, but I don't doubt that you're close enough to coming up with it if you choose not to go the easy route :)

All tomfoolery aside though, the idea of making 'tortured snowman' sculptures that normal people are shocked by or any close derivations thereof are pretttttty much Calvin and Hobbes rips.

Are you really arguing that the "Calvin and Hobbes" intellectual property henceforth has a corner on any and all future depictions of 'tortured snowman' sculptures? I would be willing to bet that somebody drew the same prior to 1985.

1. attribute ALL tortured snowmen comics to me regardless of "who" originally came up with them. (thats right i now will get credit for the ones from calvin and hobbs!!!)

I don't think he's criticizing it because of IP nonsense, it's more 'cause having tortured snowmen is imitative to the extent the comic is not contributing anything C&H isn't already, and the imitation isn't even on par with C&H because the novelty of the joke is worn and the execution isn't as good. That's why

Nonetheless this is only one strip, this criticism shouldn't keep you from doing some unique + special comics putting your own special unique fingerprints on them with your own special chubby little digits

In other words, I'd like to see some fingerpainting
