the lighting is totally non permanent. its just hard to see detail on a completely dflt map with the map fully lit. i honestly am not sure what texture scheme i am going to use yet...

anyone got any ideas for a texturing scheme? should i go ipmerialish, like valley of the jedi tower/maw, or like some ancient temple with stones and whatnot...?

I was going to say a canyon type theme would be cool. Ancient temple with stones sounds good also.

Canyons are overdone. Make it grungy like Nar!
DO NOT WANT.

heres a few pics with some temp textures, just to have something other than dftl to look at.

For some reason those screenshots make me want to open up ZED. Really really badly.

No we couldn't. No one would play them. I'd finish and release The Atrium if I thought anyone would actually PLAY it, and not just load it up to go "ooooh." and I don't really want to learn a new 3D engine because there's far more work involved in level designing.

At this point, I consider JED editing to be a hobby for some of us.

By "I" you must mean Halucid.

unless jedikirby is planning on "finishing" it by roughing in some more cubes with dflt.mat, pretty much!

Or possibly texturing the cityscape models? Tweaking the rbots? Testing for spawn and weapon placement?

Now I think I will do something, asses.

People still make MP levels?
Really, is there any point now, or is it just for fun?

Very nice darth, looking very classic.

You give me the Atrium an I might possibly convert/replicate it in Cryengine 2 for you. ;)

There are two people you need to ask if you want to do this kind of project and neither of them are kirby:

- halucid for the textures and the artwork.
- id Software for the level design.
2009-04-04, 9:45 PM #20
iD did the level design?

PS: Halucid is dead?
2009-04-05, 12:18 AM #21
He is?
2009-04-05, 1:20 AM #22
I dunno, I haven't seen him in like 2 years. Ever since that project was displayed, he's been gone.
2009-04-05, 8:34 AM #23
He hasn't been on AIM for a long time. I haven't talked to him since he made Mobius Grith.

The level is based on what my vague memory of Q3DM4, was. Our level ends up playing much differently, however. It's annoying that anyone's implying I somehow think I made the awesomeness in the level. I tongue-in-cheek downplay the boxes I gave halucid particularly because I don't feel I contributed anything to the level. This is particularly why I worked on the city scape, the rbots stuff, and weapon placement: So I at least had some fair claim to the level besides boxes and ripping off ID.

And halucid is fine. I talked to him earlier this year and he expressed interest in releasing Atrium, which I wasn't all that keen to.

Sorry your thread got ruined.

Yeah, sorry Darth. Give us more screens ;)

On the note Kirbs, I've never implied that "you made the awesomeness in the level". But being a collaboration project, it's fair to say that you had a part in it, so you deserve some credit. :)

ooo looks like fun! I can imagine blowing players jumping from the platform in the middle to the other side out of the air with the conc. :D
DO NOT WANT.

I love it.

Just... increase the mipmap distance. That wall is always going to look ugly otherwise. >.>
