My Fractal Art (Lots of images)
2009-06-03, 9:18 AM #1
Some of you may remember a thread I posted a couple years ago contained fractal art that I had created. Well, I've come a long way since then, and have now learned that simply creating the fractal art in a program and leaving it at that made it pretty amateur. Now, however, I've created the fractal art, and fine-tuned every single one of these in Photoshop. I've spent a lot of time on these, and I'd love some constructive criticism.

All images are originally in 2560x1600 resolution, if you'd like any in their full sizes and quality, or other various sizes, let me know in this thread and I'll send them to you. I apologize for the heavy JPG compression, but it helped reduce the file size of these monsters when uploading.

I see these all the time on various Desktop Wallpaper sites (not THESE, but similar images) and I never understood how people created these. These are all pretty groovy, nothing revolutionary, but pretty to look at. The only proble I have is the names they all have. It seems like HotTopic_Kid121393 named them all- But with images like these I suppose it's a bit hard not to be trite in some way.

My favorites are Rings, Escape, and Envy.

I like Spirits, Rings, Reaching Trail and Interno's Tale best

Do you have these in 1600x1200 and higher format?

Yes, all images native resolutions are in 2560x1600, and thus can virtually be resized into any practical resolution. Obviously 4:3 resolutions would need cropping or they would look distorted, but widescreen resolutions are no problem.

As for the names, I just went with the first thing that came to my mind after I created them. Some may be a little melodramatic, but it's art, what do you expect? :P

These are easily made with http://www.chaoscope.org/.

That said, I like comet and envy.

I've gotten a couple PMs about having a few of these sent to you guys, if you could specify either in your replies here or in PMs what resolution you would prefer that would really help me out. Thanks, and I appreciate the comments guys. :)

Very nice. What program did you use to create them, and how did you tweak them in Photoshop?

Could I get Comet, Elegant Lies, Envy, and Playful Lights in the original resolution? Thanks in advance...

As posted above I use the program known as Chaoscope. However, a few years ago when I first tried this program i only took advantage of the random particle creator, versus actually messing with the matrices and plugging in numbers to generate a creation entirely of my own.

After making the 3d fractal models in Chaoscope, I export them as a BMP in which I edit in Photoshop. I smooth them out as they are sometimes slightly pixelated or "rough" looking in appearance. I also add lighting to them and make other minor tweaks here and there.

I'll send those of you who have requested the wallpapers in various sizes by the end of the week. I really appreciate all the comments, and I'm glad you all like them. :)

They're pretty, but you'd really need to up the post-process to make them stand out, either by simplyfying or enhancing them. That said, some of these make excellent wallpapers. Sleek.

Not exactly what I'd consider fractals (no self-similarity), but I really really really like them. Mind if I download them?

Hey guys, due to an unforeseen overload in schoolwork I haven't had time to make everyone's specific requests. What I've decided to do is upload all of the original sizes and you can all resize them as you see fit. I'll get them uploaded by tonight. :)

I hope that link works for all of you. I have all of the images uploaded in their native resolutions of 2560x1600, and they are in BMP format so the file size is somewhat large.

If you would rather download all of the images at once, I went to the liberty of uploading a RAR as well that contains all of the fractal art.

Thanks everyone, I hope you enjoy them!
