Thats a real good start. I thought the Damn/River had a very realistic feel to it. The architecture was simplistic but, well, that's normal considering its a damn. I'd add more detail to that underground passage at the end though. Pipes and the likes.

Overall that's a great start!

You should totally build the JKRPG version of it with the added slave quarters, the sewer system, etc.

It's accurate, sure, but you could use some artistic license and bump the geometry up to this century.

Its a dam. I thought it works very well for a dam. Of course, the tunnels could use for geometry, pipes, etc.

I like what I see. :) Like the others have said, yes, it could indeed use some bumping up to today's standards using artistic license. Fortunately, seeing as it's pretty much all concrete and adobe in that level, that shouldn't require too much. But absolutely, seeing as it is a dam and there is lots of water flowing around, pipes pipes pipes. They're the new crate! Also You could perhaps make those 'teeth' sticking out of the wall look jaggedy on the side that faces the water, or other details like that. :)

I think screenies work better than video, but thats my perference. However I'm liking the recreation but agree with the others that artistic license should be used. Pipes are good, but lights, signs (and maps XD), service panels, random machinery, and pumps are more desirable since they make the space more believable since it is what should be there. Anyways, keep up the fine work. XD

Looking better, but far too dark. It makes it painfully obvious that JA's water shader sucks and is fullbright. I would suggest another water texture.

You can't swim in JO, though -- right? (it's been a looooong time)

Nonetheless that's awesomesauce!

Yes you can.

Just realized something. Get JA. JO is far uglier.

2009-08-19, 10:09 PM #15
Not to mention nobody plays it anymore.

2009-08-20, 3:28 AM #16
No. I liked JO much more than JA so it makes scene to me to keep it alive. Besides lots of my friends like to play it. Actually Zell I was going to ask you to release your level for JO as well.
2009-08-20, 5:14 AM #17
Not possible. JA is just plain better and a back port is non-trivial.
2009-08-20, 6:40 AM #18
Hot-tastic... except for the water texture.

(And just now I realized how annoying that lightsaber bullet time effect is)

Sure It is. It's easy. ;]

It'd be easier for you to upgrade to JA, though, since that's what everyone else plays. ;)

And JA has ragdoll.
2009-08-20, 11:59 AM #22
The worst ragdoll in any game ever, but yeah. More importantly, JA has a much better saber combat system, which is pretty much 75% of the reason I started my project. (Played JK and thought 'wouldnt this be awesome with JAs sabers?'

This thread title made me cringe :(

Zell is great! But you shouldn't preface a display of your work with "I'm no Zell"!

I'm also using JO because it will work fine in JA as well. Why make a map for one good game if I can make a map for two good games? Also I'm trying to put the NPCs so that It's not so easy to reach them with a lightsaber. And It's impossible to destroy the probes with it. Thats what I liked about good ol JK, guns actually aren't useless compared to the saber.
2009-08-20, 1:55 PM #27
Btw. Anny one know a website with some advanced Radiant and shader tutorials?
2009-08-20, 2:07 PM #28
I've been doing the same thing as you, in terms of making the gameplay actually interesting via useful placing of NPCs. It's still difficult to make the damn Grans actually act intelligently, since AI in JA is rubbish, but I came close. Keep it up! (But get JA ;))
DO NOT WANT.

I have JA. Just don't like it that much.
