Looks like a start.

Say, does Hammer have in-editor lighting these days? I might want to test this thing out myself when my new computer gets here.

It says it does, but it crashes when I try it. It's a pretty slick editor, but god damnit it crashes every 5 minutes. Very frustrating.

Looks good, but I suggest giving the wood more realistic dimensions. As it is, they stand out and look a bit cartoonish because they're so big and widely spaced.

it is a vent, through which the room is accessed. As soon as I figure out the particle system, I'll have blood dripping on the player's face as he climbs up it.

I'm not entirely sure why it happened, but the idea of crawling up through a vent into the middle of where a murder took place, with the blood dripping down the vent struck me as a neat idea. Maybe that's where the shower idea came from... they killed someone and used the shower to wash the blood away. I donno. Also the red light from the scene filtering through the grate into the duct is a neat effect. I'll have to think of a workaround, but keep the red lighting...

Are you guys gonna give me this much trouble about the 'shower', though? Really? How about now? Pretty clear it isn't a conventional shower anymore, or do you want me to get rid of the shower prop altogether? I put it in because it's an interesting look, and it makes sense considering the uses for that room.

I for one am loving the atmosphere. I really like the idea of a game where the first bizarre creatures you encounter you aren't prepared for, and need to miraculously survive with your wits.

Well, the douchebags on an internet forum had one point, which was the enormous vent was not a drain. That I changed. It's staying as is now, though. I moved on to new areas.

Maybe I just can't tell from these shots, but even if it's a vent, there are a lot of drains that look like that. Storm drains on the sides of roads are pretty similar, at least near me. They are barely narrow enough for a mountain bike tire to roll over, and just wide enough that a road tire would get ****ed.

Well, sure, but it's a shower (of some kind or another) not a street gutter. I like the idea, too, but if it doesn't make sense, it doesn't make sense. Now, if you can MAKE it make sense, as he has attempted to do, or find another way to incorporate the idea, then that would be great. I mean, what about a ladder into a storm drain with blood dripping down it? In certain indoor and many outdoor situations, that would be pretty believable.

if it's a shower that runs through a decent amount of water, a drain like that wouldn't seem so unusual at all. Like someone else said, it's no different than a storm drain.

If I ever make levels again I'm gonna put a vent on a shower and some guy just looking at it going all "What the hell is that doing here!?"

Just as a tribute really.

(Every other shower would have a drain)
