I didn't make the cover, my friend did. I wrote some of the text. It was a quick draft so there will certainly be errors and awkwardness.

I have no real reason to post this other than I am working on said book and needed to take a break.

Too much text on the back, the typefaces could stand to be changed, and compressed image is compressed.

The text in the middle of the front cover has to go.

On the back, keep the 3 quotes but lose the paragraph right below them. The list thing with gray background can stay. Lose the small text over the red on the bottom.

Publishers don't let authors have any say in their covers. FWIW. It's all marketing.

Also, the way the subtitle contradicts the title makes me laugh.

Yep, often that is the case. Lulu.com however...

Also, thats kind of the point. It's not a final title, though. It is interesting how modern methods of shooting instruction have stripped away a lot of excess to become more useful. Which is the point. I grew weary of hearing the same incorrect bull**** on ranges and reading books more about voodoo than shooting.

As for the other points, yeah, all pretty much spot on.

Don't use that font, and don't squeeze the font like that. Make sure stuff lines up (look up the grid system). Your paragraphs are running too wide. cut it down to like 10 words across.

I thought you were one of the shooters I remembered on the forum.

Just curious, are you a fan of any books on marksmanship? I am looking at different ways that the fundamentals and techniques are presented, and I think more and more that the way I view and teach them is more accessible that many methods. Especially to people who did not grow up in a culture where shooting is common.

True. Like I said it was a rough draft, mainly so that I could have an concrete image in my head. Because I need things like that to be creative for some reason. I will keep those in mind for the final draft, though. Thanks.

I'm not sure I like the words "Why you are shooting your gun wrong... and how to fix it" on the title page. I assume that this might be slightly annoying to those who do know how to shoot correctly.

Oh definitely, I completely understand. You should see MY rough drafts... mostly scribbles that nobody else can decipher haha. Figured a few pointers could help though :)

The only books I remember reading on about proper marksmanship were training manuals from the army, but I do have a few books about weapon documentary and a war atlas, sorry not much help. maybe if there was a way to obtain some non-sensitive military training manuals somehow.

I have no comments on the cover, but I need what is inside this book. I want it. Because I am the worst shot in all of history ever.

The problem is, a large amount of people who 'do' know how to shoot correctly, actually don't. They're not going to read the book anyway, so...

But you're right, I just gave my friend some text I thought might fit and he put it on a picture of mine from Iraq.

And Bob, when I get a draft finished maybe I'll e-mail it to you to see how it reads to a self proclaimed bad shot.

That would be cool, Spook. I went shooting today and did alright, though, so don't take too long or I might not be your target audience anymore. ;)

For the "credentials" section on the bottom of the back, it might be a good idea to use third person. Any time I read something like that in first person, it reads like the person is trying to prove themselves or sell me something. Despite that your experience makes you very credible, it sounds more credible in the third person.
