Looks like Deus Ex. :P

I mean it's nice and all, ofc, and I dig the Burgerboy, but just looking at the first Unreal engine makes me want to cringe. Tho I certainly hope you're joking about this being your last Showcase thread. Why don't you build something in a new engine (U3 for example)? It's no secret that you have mega1337hardxor editing skills, I'm def. curious to see what you'd come up with. :)

Thanks guys! Yay, my second Rock Paper Shotgun mention.

Well, as far JK & DX projects (which I've only showcased here) go, I think this thread will be the last. As far as new game engines go, I nearly started editing Crysis last summer but even then I guess my skills might be limited to the early 2000s. I'd like to take a shot at my Deus Exish FPS/RPG Telltale Games like adventure game type thing magnum opus at some point, but who knows.

What has actually surprised me about this mod is that it's already getting some coverage on the Internet. And I think it's going to be a vague hit in Serbia and Hungary!

The stakes are high, the future will show if I'll somehow find a way to screw this project :\

To the barricades against BSP holes!

Subway cars courtesy of DX itself, the main game's NYC map is going to make a cutscene cameo in the mod so I thought the subway could make a cameo.
(And I'm gonna make a tram for another level so I'MNOTBEINGLAZYATALL :gonk:)

The area is supposed to be Queens, NYC. And as for the explanation why it might not look like Queens, well, by the 2050s anything can happen...

After having one of my "why am I still editing Unreal Engine in 2011" fits, I'm hoping to make this mod feel like an expansion pack for the original game. As in, just professional enough so that it would have been hailed as a masterpiece back then and entertaining enough for a niche Deus Ex audience to try it out in the 2010s. Should set the bar high enough.

YAY

Since computers have become much more capable, couldn't you add detail to buildings for more visible structure (as opposed to them being flat on each side)?

I could. And I've wanted to. Sadly that always means BSP holes. /_\

So I decided to try to be done with the mod's archi as quickly as possible, while simulatenously cursing that I spent most of the late 2000s bickering on about stuff instead of finishing my DX mod and learning a modern engine after that! OH WELL

Anyhow, I'm trying to add some detail (like those slightly curved windows that really look out of place) for some compensation.

What's this, Nikumubakey? The key to making levels set in Asia is to add gratuituous textures with Asian writing on them, a bunch of signs and *sigh* BSP holes? Oy!
