Amidst shredding my concept art and project design discs for the never-to-be-finished FGR Eternity Project™ (oldest ones dating back to 2001), I actually came across intact classic & proper keyboard and mouse rests instead of the duct-taped monstrosities that my current ones have turned into.
Attachment 28542
Of course, I can't start using those nice ones just yet - got to wait until the duct-taped ones finally give out for good.
-
They have. That’s what “given out for good” looks like.
-
Speaking of which, these "nice" ones also look a bit like they've given out for good! :v:
-
-
I also hate how the only keyboard rest that looks even vaguely similar to those classic ones is stupid-expensive (and out of stock) in this country https://www.verkkokauppa.com/fi/prod...1K2N24e05X9LDR

Due to my parents' health collapsing earlier this year, I took these old computers under my care when they had to move to a smaller apartment:

Gonna wait 'til winter or something to check if those machines work anymore.

Did you shake the C-64 and freak out like the Nintendo 64 kid?

To my annoyance, however, it seems like USB floppy disk drives are incompatible with Windows 10 so I can't make a boot disk for the Mac Plus which it's probably gonna need (can't remember if Mac Plus could have the boot stuff on external HDDs such as the ones in that photo). Boh!

As for my latest actual purchase instead of an acquisition, I got these shoes for the summerfallspring
https://www.varusteleka.fi/fi/produc...x-mustat/58236
So far they're pretty good (I've got bad luck with shoes so who knows how long these'll manage to last, tho')
-
salomon makes good shoes and I believe those are what the uS nAVy sEa OTteRs were wearing when they killed Obama bin Ladin

Pretty good stuff.

And speaking of purchases, rarely is the question asked: Where were you during the FGR Remix War?
-
Also, I realized that the Nikon D3000 camera I've got is too old to not have direct battery recharging by plugging it into my computer via USB, so I had to get this gizmo https://www.digitarvike.fi/product/1...el9--micro-usb
Boh.

i'm pretty sure even the current models don't do in camera battery charging... they all come with an external charger...
which i almost never use now that i have one the runs off usb and charges 2 batteries, far more convenient than the one it came with that likes to fall out of every outlet in the house
-
I think the battery door and contacts is rated for more cycles than the usb connector or something like that
-
Ah, for some reason I thought USB charging was the norm these days.
... Well, mainly since my Sony WH-10000XM3s are charged via USB and those headphones are pretty damn great.
-
It definitely is for lots of stuff, just not fancy cameras. My Canon C100 I probably don't really need had removable batteries.

I was also surprised that the Logitech G305 uses AA batteries instead of USB charging, but I guess it's a "non-issue" since a regular battery lasted 2.5 months (with barely no gaming, though) with it. Gonna try a lithium-ion battery next.
Not these batteries, though (granted that they were in their unopened package for 7-8 years, but eh):

iPhone 11, 128 GB.
I've had an iPhone 6 that served me well for over 5 years. I do miss the home button and headphone jack. Still, iPhones are probably the only Apple product that I would be willing to buy.

It's a shame that Cherry MX Blue/Silent mechanical keyboards with a numpad and no egregious extra keys on the left don't seem to exist in wireless form, then I could get rid of the bulky keyboard cable as well:

Anyway, received the 4TB WD RED HDD for my other computer (not shown in picture):
Attachment 28576
Here's hoping that me copying the contents from my external backup drives to it won't break it like UE4 did with the 3TB one...

Ordered this one earlier today for my main computer's (first pic in my previous post) FLAC/MKV storage purposes: https://www.verkkokauppa.com/fi/prod...t-3-5-kovalevy
So that's 517.60 EUR spent this year on storage drives that I didn't direly (or immediately) need.
Boh.

I also got tired of trying to lit up the insides of my computer with a cellphone flashlight so I got this instead https://www.verkkokauppa.com/fi/prod...initaskulamppu

I bought a Flip One Pro LT thermal camera on Ebay that connects to my phone and gives me heat vision like The Predator. Because I'm an adult and no one can tell me no.

I can't believe I had to buy Spaceballs again because the DVDs I got in 2008 couldn't be read anymore

* Another pair of Sony WH-1000XM3s (I liked the previous ones so much I ... bought them again)

Had to get a 1-month subscription (11.90 €) here to gain access to an obscure game whose soundtrack wasn't properly available on YT or anywhere else https://www.antstream.com/
