The Chronicle of Llyr
2002-02-04, 2:55 PM #1
Alright, here is my new story. This setting has both magic and some modern/futuristic technology. However, they do NOT have space travel. There is the land of Wyrdain, divided into several realms ruled over by numerous lords. Their war leader is Prince Gwyneth. There is an ocean separating Wyrdain from the barren land of Annuvin, where the evil Emperor Achren rules. Prince Gywneth rules at Cathyl Castle, which is in the headwaters of the River Irwen, which guards passage into Wyrdain. He maintains numerous island fortresses in the ocean.

Though you can make up any sort of character you wish, my suggestion is to make up a character that will become a member of Prince Gwyneth's elite force. Write a battle at one of the island fortresses, and introduce your character in this context. In the battle, have your character distinguish him- or herself so that Gywneth will summon him or her to be a member of the elite squadron. Again, your character does not have to be a member of the elite squadron. You can be a lord of Wyrdain, someone at Cathyl Castle, or whatever.

The technology is similar to Power Rangers or Gundam Wing technology. There are twenty-meter high androids, armed with rockets, lasers, etc., that are ridden in and operated by their human riders. Both sides (Wyrdain and Annuvin) have battle androids. Achren also has a class of elite fighters called Judge-Warriors. These are heavily armed and armored humans that can stand up even to the mighty battle androids. They have wrist crossbows, wrist lasers, rapid-fire guns, sniper rifles, farsight rifles, bombs, rocket launchers, grenade launchers, etc. They're incredibly powerful yet incredibly compact.

The god of the world, Jere-Cuzhan, was banished long ago to the underworld, Tartarades, by the warrior king Solman and his enchanted sword. Now, Achren and Gwyneth vie for the favor of Jere-Cuzhan, for whoever demonstrates enough power will gain the opportunity to free the god and bond with him, thus becoming omnipotent.

Well, let's just see if I can get things rolling.

-----

On the island of Dalmos was one of Prince Gywneth's numerous fortresses. It was a keep with a hexagonal outer wall, and the island itself afforded some protection with some high cliffs on one side of the isle.

Llyr was on sentry duty this morning. Just Llyr. He had never known any other name. Orgoch, the woman who had raised him, had only told him that his family was massacred when he was just an infant. Orgoch was also the enchantress protectress of Wyrdain, working in conjunction with Prince Gwyneth to defend the lands.

Looking through his IR binoculars, he casually scanned the horizon yet again. Annuvin was to the north, Wyrdain to the south, Forrestal to the east, and open ocean to the west. Annuvin was a bleak and barren land, ruled by the vile Emperor Achren, who sought to conquer Wyrdain. At least it was bleak and barren according to legend. Few people, and no one that Llyr knew, had ever set foot in that accursed realm.

Forrestal was a land of lush jungles, but was largely uninhabited, except for a few tribal primitives. Wyrdain itself was divided into several lordships, and there was no one monarch, though prophecy ordained that one day a High King would come, born of the lines of Fey and Lloyd. The Fey family had the most powerful enchantments of all in their blood, whereas the Lloyds were the greatest military and political leaders ever. Prince Gwyneth himself was a Lloyd. Orgoch was not a Fey, but might as well have been for all her power. Daer, the evil warlock serving Achren, was rumored to be a fallen Fey.

Llyr glanced through his infrared scope another time. Couldn't afford to take any chances any more, especially since there were rumors that Achren was on the move. And then he saw it. A speck on the horizon. Which changed to several specks, that resolved themselves into battle androids, carrier planes, and warships!

He sounded the alarm. The battle for Fort Dalmos was about to begin.

What has he became? He was surely not quite human any more, and of that fact he was perfectly aware. Neither was he a machine - he was more like the spawn of human flesh and 20 tonns of pure metal, armed by the top notch of Annuvin technology. This particular battle android had no monitors or levers in it's cockpit - just an uncomfortable seat with wires hanging all around the pilot, some of which are connected to his nerve system. The terrain image was trasmitted from the android's external cameras right into the brain of the pilot. This was an experimental android, this was a test to see the power of merging human intellect with the cold steel of the modern war machine - a 15 meter tall titan. The pilot's name was Koobie, and he was said to "volunteer" for the experiment after he sent the captain of his infantry divsion in a coma just to see "for how long will the bastard bleed" (his own words). Koobie was a sadist to the core - a bit too much even for an Annuvian. After a series of neuro surgeries he was *plugged* into his battle android (experimental code name: BioGear MK2) to become one with it. Koobie could live without BGMK2's life support, but he needed a special miniature life support module which was mounted into his suit (along with many other things). And now the time to test both Koobie and the BGMK2 in a real battle has come. Soon he saw the Gywneth's fortress on the horizon - immidiately he enchanted the image by 25 times and saw a single watchman standing on the tallest wall of the fortress. It was Llyr.

Chamoy scrambled over the rocks on the riverside. The River Irwen flowed lazily out to the ocean next to him. Spotting his prey, his arm flashed out, under the waterline. Pulling out the jomo plant, he stuffed it in his sack. The harvest this week was not so good. He hoped the season was not ending early - Jomir the head chef would find some way to blame him. Still, it wouldn't be the end of the world, Jomir could always use the slightly less fragrant variety found in hydroponics.

Chamoy had been the kitchen boy since he had been brought to Cathyl Castle as an orphan seventeen years before. Clumsy with the manual labour necessary in the harsh environment, he had turned to books and learning in whatever spare time he could grab. He had discovered within himself a deep fascination and natural instinct with electronics and bionics. Having no parent figures to learn from, he had experimented blindly in the taboo subject of human enhancement. Breaking into medical labs to perform surgery on himself in the middle of the night with medical bots had been an interesting experience, and Jomir had not appreciated the many days Chamoy had spent recovering from botched experiments.

Chamoy had only recently constructed a device that worked. It didn't function efficiently at all, which was unfortunate since he had found a way to power it off his own body energy. It spent most of the time dormant. On the plus side, he had made it completely unobtrusive. The only clue to his IR sensitive optic enhancement was a strange sheen to his eyes.

Looking up, he saw the sky was turning dark - he had been out here longer than he expected, and now he was late for getting back. Picking up his bag, he turned to head back to the castle. As he neared, he saw the gates were shut. This was a problem. Chamoy was well known to the gate guards, and they loved him less than Jomir, if that was possible. They certainly would find an excuse to not open the gates, and if they caught him sneaking over again...

Chamoy decided he would have to use one of the secret entrances to the Castle. He had spent many hours exploring the castle with enhanced vision, before he had realised how exhausted prolonged use made him feel. He had found several passages obviously forgotten for centuries. There was one that exited the outer walls only a few hundred yards away, in a small copse of trees. The trees no doubt had only been let grow when the passage was forgotten, for it was a certain security risk. Just how real the risk was, Chamoy was about to discover.

As he reached the small grove, he stopped dead. Voices could be heard faintly. Chamoy thought he could make out two different people. He turned on his vision, and saw them standing to the right of the trees.

That was odd, since without his vision he could see nothing outlined against the sky. Chamoy slowly crept forward, trying desparately not to make any noise. He didn't like the sound of the voices. They shouldn't be out here anyway, and they definitely shouldn't be coming from a place where he couldn't see anything.
He finally got close enough to make out words. "Quit worrying, I tell you. No-one knows we're hear. And besides, they can't see us!"
"I know this, but we're going right into their main stronghold. Just the two of us. I don't like it," replied the other voice.

There was an odd, lilting accent to their speech. Chamoy guessed they must be Annuviens, sent here on some special errand. The fact there were only two of them both relieved and alarmed Chamoy. Their mission was obviously one that could only succeed through secrecy. Suddenly, one of them moved, and Chamoy could see through his normal vision a faint shimmer in the air. They obviously had some form of cloaking technology on a human sized scale - unheard of in Wyrdainian technology. Chamoy hunkered further down in the shadows and decided the only way to stop their mission succeeding would be to follow them. They were obviously going to enter the city through the passage, and Chamoy realised he'd need his IR vision on for an extended period that evening. He didn't relish the prospect, as he'd had a long day collecting jomo plants.

Soon the two stopped bickering and entered the passage. Chamoy gave them half a minute's head start and then followed. They weren't hurrying, and Chamoy found no problem keeping up, although the use of his enhancement was tiring him.

As he got further into the tunnel, Chamoy wondered what the intruders ultimate goal was...

Lord Admiral Shorn's voice sounded in Koobie's cockpit. "BioGear MK2, prepare to attack."

"Understood, Adm'ral," Koobie replied. He grinned. Those pathetic Wyrdainians were in for a double shocker. The new biotech android as well as the emperor's trump: Lord Admiral Shorn, Achren's new war leader. He was an excellent fighter and a brilliant strategist.

As the troops approached Fort Dalmos, the Admiral gave an order to tighten formation. Koobie was getting excited all right (blood lust was just a line of his character) and putting the rave music in his cockpit to maximum volume he continued the march.

The first rows of attackers were mainly battle androids, lead by Koobie and Lord Admiral Shorn himself. Shortly after them followed the hover tanks, and running between the tanks and the androids were the Judge-Warriors along with normal infantry. Of the infantry each single soldier had special middle class armour substainable to most projectle damage with a shield-like mask protecting and hiding their faces. Some carrying light-to-medium class lasers, some heavy machineguns, some even had shoulder mounted RPG launchers. And each and every machine or human bared the red emblem of the Annuvian power - not only that it was on their uniform and vehicles, but also every Annuvian was oblidged to get the sign burnt out on their skin with a surgical laser.

When the Annuvians got as close as it gets to the lines of the Wyrdainians all vehicles halted and the infantry with soul breakin cries rushed forward.

Koobie lay beneath the metal ruins of that what once was a high tech piece of machinery... The wires now sparkling with uncontrolled electricity reminded his half living brain of the recent battle. Different tubes leading nowhere stuck out of his wounded body. His special suit was damaged, but, fortunately for him, the life support system managed to stay intact. And that was the only reason he was still alive.

His fading counciousness brought flash backs of the events which happened just a few hours ago. Every time he closed his eyes painfull images of screaming people, flying shells, and mortar shots haunted his mind.

The remains of BGMK2 lay in the inner courtyard of Fort Dalmos, surrounded by debris of the shattered wall along with Annuvian and Wyrdainian corpses. Most of them were torn apart by powerfull blasts, some cut by machine gun fire... A great lot of foot soldiers defending Fort Dalmos were killed once the wall collapsed.

At one part of the courtyard, there was some kind of movement. In a moment, a single soldier, throwing aside the bodies of dead comrades and slaughered enemies stood up. He was wearing the black-red armour of the Annuvians. His face-protecting shield was broken, and his scarred face was unprotected. Limping and clashing his teeth from the pain of multiple wounds, he walked through the dead to the very centre of the courtyard. There, the strenght seemed to fail him, and he fell on his knees. He detached some kind of a cylindrical capsule from his belt, pressed a button - the cylinder momentarily transformed into a metal pole, which he stuck in the ground. An opening on the other side of the pole slid free, and the Annuvian flag emerged to the cold breeze of the Dalmos atmosphere.

Llyr also survived the onslaughter. He was still somewhere in the battlefield, strapped to his damaged droid's control chair. His android was partially dissassembled and it's plating was scorched in the fierce battle, but the droid was still standing - even though it was absolutely immobolized since the motor chassis were blown. The only area of the droid which staid intact was the cockpit.

Llyr unstrapped himself from the control chair, and tried to open the emergency escape hatch, located below that chair. However, it was jammed, just as the main door in the cockpit. Not hesitating for too long, Llyr strapped himself back and pulled the EJECT wire.

Hehe, but seriously, Koobie. No drugs, no sex, but plenty of violence. And hopefully adventure and character development as well. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

*well, guess its time I started posting my char eh.*

"I knew it'd only be a matter of time before he would attack. Such a foolish waste, and for what?" The figure puts his scanner away and walks away from the edge of the cliff, heading back to the treeline. "All for a buch of ruins, thats what for." Just past the treeline and leans up against a tree. Looking around to make sure noone is around he bows his head and closes his eyes. "Hey, those explosions you pick up on the sensors............ Well, it was a battle on the nearby island. Needless to say it was a slaughter for both sides...... From what I could tell their were a few surviors on both sides.......don't say that, I want no part in this fight. I gave that up long ago when I left that forsaken place to come here........Yeah, if given the chance, I'd settle the score with all of them...............I'm on my way back to camp. Lets just try to stay out of this fight..............I know, but if we must fight then whatever happens happens." The figure raises his head and resumes his walk deeper into the forsest.

Koobie raised himself from the ground. He wasn't sure how he managed to crawl out of BGMK2 before the explosion. The shockwave was so harsh that it sent him flying for about 5 meters in the opposite direction. With quite dangerous apathy he mechanically noted that a few fingers on his left hand were missing. He felt no pain at all - the Annuvian cybernetic doctors were real proffesionals - they somehow changed his body so that if it is exposed to severe pain the nerve system is automatically *switched off*.

Koobie walked through the battlefield looking at defaced bodies and remains of shiny machinery. Then, he noticed one of the "dead" soldiers move... Koobie advanced at him at a surprising pace for his condition, and, noticing the Wyrdainian emblem on his chest plate, Koobie punched the infidel in his face. He broke the soldier's protective glasses, sending sharp shattered glass in the Wyrdainian eyes. Also, Koobie was yet unaware of the strenght enchancements which he was given by the Annuvian surgeons. His fist went half way through the enemy's head, breaking all the facial bones he had. With a satisfied sight, Koobie pulled his hand out. The Annuvian body lied in convulsions on the battlefield..

Prince Gwyneth meticulously reseated his sash, then followed his Generals out to the ground car that waited outside the vast building. He detested being put on show while Wyrdainian soldiers were being slaughtered by the Annuvinian forces, but he also knew it was necessary. Keep the populace reassured, so you only have one front to fight as his teacher had always told him. It was no good winning the war against the Annuvinians if he were to lose Wyrdain to civil unrest and dissent.
People thronged the streets within Cathyl Castle, waving Wyrdainian flags. As he stepped out into the sunlight, Prince Gwyneth was deafened by the roar of the crowd. Uplifting, isn't it? he thought to himself as he let himself be carried on the rollercoaster of adulation.
Stepping down to the car, he was slowly driven through the crowds, back to the War Room, to plan tomorrow's offensives, and repair the damage of today's defense. He smiled and waved, not really paying attention to now, his mind churning statistics and tactics. Movement on the roofs in the corner of his eye went unnoticed. But not for long.
The shot went flying over the heads of the crowd, destroying a small portion of the building on the opposite side of the street. As the masonry settled, Prince Gwyneth's car accelerated up the street, bodyguards bundling the leader down inside. Security forces were already converging on the building, and airborne squads flew in towards a boy, apparently fleeing across the rooftops.
Chamoy knew that as long as he held onto one of the intruders, he would be okay. Sinking teeth, fists, feet into the unseen foe, he desparately tried to stop his escape. Flying Patrols reached him just as his energy gave out. From here, the security forces could see he was clinging onto some invisible assailant. Chamoy dropped to the ground, exhausted, and let the security bring him down to the impound whilst the Annuvinian that didn't get away was forcibly yanked away. Devoid of his suit, Chamoy could clearly see the intense hate etched on the Annuvinian's face.
"Come on, lad," the patrolman's voice soothed, "we'll get ye down to the base and find out what's going on 'ere."
"Negative, Charlie" called another. "Take him to the palace. Prince Gwyneth wants to talk to this one."
Chamoy squirmed. He wasn't afraid of meeting the Prince. His fear came from a much more real source. What was Jomir going to say about the events of today...?

Rejko was looking in the cold gloomy sky. His ear tips were mooving nervesly trying to catch the smallest sound of the battle which was going in one of the isles far away in the ocean. He licked his muzzle, it was 2 days since he last had some food, and a good rest too. The large orange-colored fox-loking beast slowly got up. 'Time to get some food' thought Rejko.

It all started long ago at the beginning of the war when he was small boy and most importantly a human. His village was on the ocean shore and hence was the first to attacked. All the people were killed with cruelty but he was somehow able to escape death. He the only surviver of all meassacare was taken as a prisinor to Anuwian territories...

As the war recquires plenty of cannon-fodder and the first battles were won by Wurdian forces. Rejko with other prisinors forced to fight against their own people, but what was most important that he didn't care. The anger which was growing in him was all used to eradicate everything, a killing mashine of some sort. After his sucsess as Judge-Warrior he was sent to solo missions as MFS <fighter-spy> to enemy bases with task of distroing them. And of cource one good day he was wounded in Cathil castle and Wurdians disided to use their prisinor as a test rabbit in their experiment. It was a biological transformation to create super-human fighter with tremendous abilities. They could achive it bu putting DNA of the fox in the human cell and during the complicated mutation prosess they were able to create a fox-like creature which thouth still had human form. It was the biggest shock for Rejko when he woke up from trance and saw his furry pows with 5sm claws at the end of them. Whith the burst of anger he killed all the professors and mannaged to escape from the base. After that time he lived alone in the mountains and hunted every man he could find. No battle gear could protect from his rage. An outcast, not able to forgive and forget. He lost his soul in the jail of Anuwian and lost his body in the Wurdian lab and not human by anything.....

The sudden explosion stoped Rejko's thoughts and an airoplane fell near. 'Time to moove' thougt Rejko and dissapeard in the mist.

Koobie stood alone on the Dalmos island surrounded by corpses and debris. The only logical decision of how to act next was to find Lord Admiral Shorn. "From there, things will work out", Koobie thought. Judging by the Admiral's last radio transmission his android was somewhere close... After about 2 hours of intensive search, Koobie finally found the scorched android of his master. It was colored in the traditional Annuvian colors, black with bright red symbols and stripes... It was quite hard to tell that, though, since most of the paint was burnt during the combat. Koobie ran to the android, and with all his tremendous strenght pulled the handle of the escape hatch. He fell on the ground as the hatch was ripped out of the android's titanium plating. Throwing it aside, he jumped back to his feet and leaped back to the android's cockpit. There he saw his Admiral - the youngest Admiral to ever serve under Emperor Achren - Shorn was in his early-30's but had already gained absolute devotion along with great respect from his underlings...

Koobie unstrapped Admiral's unconscious body from the control chair and pulled him out through the opening where the escape hatch used to be. When Koobie leaned his master against the fallen android's side, Shorn opened his eyes.

Lord Admiral Shorn forced himself to stand up. He felt that he had a few ribs broken, but even in a situation as bad as this he couldn't allow himself to show weakness before one of his units. In silence, Admiral Shorn made a semi-circle around Koobie and stopped. Koobie straightend his back and raised his chin, as if he was a green recruit, not daring to move.

"Well, Koobie, I knew you'd make it... Thanks for pullin' me out of this tin can, too... How many surviv..." the Admiral's voice changed into a form of uncomprehenisble whisper as a bullet went through his throat, tearing apart his vocal chords. Shorn was still waving his arms in astonishment when the second sniper bullet hit him in the back, went through his body, and ripped a part of his chest out... Shorn collapsed on the ground with a bloody moan.

Koobie, who was taught to think quick, tried to calculate the sniper's position, but could only partially dodge when the third bullet with a velocity of 5,000 meters/per hour hit him, making an accurate hole in the shoulder part of his dark yellow life-support costume. Koobie was thrown back by the piercing piece of lead, hit the remains of the android, and fell next to his dead Admiral.

Llyr saw the third figure fall through the scope of a Judge-Warrior's 4.5mm Sniper Rifle. The smoking shell flew out as a new bullet moved in the automatic rifle's barrel from the 9 bullet clip. Llyr threw the firearm down, as it was way too heavy to be used without a Judge-Warrior's full armor, and pulled out a compact laser pistol.

Mean vile Rejko continued his journey down the narrow walleyes further and further from the shore. Though it was dark and misty his animal instinct helped him to find the way, and his ever-growing hunger gave him speed. He was going to the place where he heard the airplane crashed. By the explosion he knew that this was a heavy carrier-craft, so there was a fat chance that there were plenty of bodies there, whom he could eat, and if he was really lucky, maybe even some food supplies. It was a wrong flow of mind, because while thinking this way Rejko soon started to see a huge hamburger flowing over his muzzle, which was pretty disturbing. "Dam'n'em dreamings!" hissed he and closed his eyes,(Rejko had strong enough 6-th sense to continue his journey even with his eyes closed) "Why couldn't those wood-headed scientists balance my nerve system and perception systems better, it seems that soon I shall end-up seeing canteens and food storages all around the place!"

Actually the scientists were not that wood-headed as Rejko thought. Opposite of it they did a real scientifical masterpiece without of which he probably wouldn't be able to survive alone. The experiment Rejko took part in was not just to create physically strong mutant, they also wanted to create a special being with psi-control abilities. In practice it means that Rejko was able to use the power of his mind as a weapon. It was achieved by radiating his body with the mixture of slow ions and alfa-15 particles which made a mutation in his nerve and brain systems. As the structure of his nerves changed they could accumulate or free gigantic amounts of energy, which surrounded his body. In practice it means that Rejko was like a living battery or cell, who got his power from around him and by focusing it in one point was able to shoot one powerful beam of energy.

Rejko could make 3 types of psi-attacks. In fact there were much more attacks he could do, but it requires a bit of training to find them and he wasn't the one who likes to do experiments. To tell the truth Rejko didn't even knew that he could do other attacks, that's why he didn't tried. The ones he knew were enough to make him destroy even the most powerful androids and infantry. The most complicated and effective attack was Neutron Curtain: By the mind Rejko could summon the neutrons from molecules surrounding his body and hammer them into the nearest bio-life which was immediately destroyed, because neutrons disintegrated only bio elements and don't touch anything else. Against such attack any armor was useless because neutrons simply pierce it. (Sneaky stuff, kill the driver of android without damaging machine's armor) Other attack: Ion Scalpel was similar to Ion Curtain, but the resulting beam cut anything on it's way. Since ions care not about friction this beam ignored the thickness and tension of armor. Last attack: Psi-cloud was simply a burst of energy which destroyed people's nerve system. But Rejko had other unpleasant stuff as well. His claws and teeth were excellent melee weapons and could cut even some steel or stone. That's why without having any guns or armor Rejko was able to survive in harsh front conditions of war for so many ears, but back to the real story....

Just a 5 more minutes walk, and Rejko was able to get to the crash site. As he expected the carrier was rather big and since he landed in the middle of the forest there was a pretty dig mass all around the place. But the good side was that the pilot was probably rather experienced one, and tried to land the plane, with minimum damage, so the corpus of the machine wasn't completely destroyed, which left a chance that there were still some survivors inside, or as Rejko called them: "Fresh meat". He stood there at the edge of the forest the remains of this behemoth, wondering if he finally could get some good dinner, when suddenly the he noticed the emblem at the tail of the plane. It was a red skull in front of two mountains. The emblem was defiantly not Wyrdainian or Annuvin, it was more like the simbol of some other realm, but all the lords on the planet knew about the war in this region and nobody who has enough brains will sand the ship to fly in this land! And as the mutant was studding the plane his mind was telling him that there is something strange and yet realy important inside it. For a moment he felt that there is something that can even change the course of war! "Well things are getting really interesting!" thought Rejko and not loosing any time he quickly slided down the slope, and went towards the plane remains.

He was about 60 meters near the machine, when he suddenly heard the roar of the approaching androids. Without loosing any time he quickly hid himself behind the nearest tree trunk and waited. Soon he saw that a groop of people entered the place. "Ssssssssientists!" hissed Rejko who always hated them, and started to watch even more attentivly. A few seconds later 2 light armored SM-12 androids entered the crash site. These were so called anti-infantry robots, because they were light and quick, and usually were only used only against the infantry, because they were to weak against real androids. Each SM-12 had napalm cannon as a weapon, which could shoot flame walls of giant heat. No armor could protect from it! If there were any survivors in the plane they were doomed to die a horrible death. "Well, time to do something otherwise my diner is going to be toasted before I can eat it!" thought Rejko and while consternating his mind powers ran towards the androids.....

Koobie opened his eyes. Lights. Lights everywhere. He was lying in some kind of an uncomfortable metal bed, with his body aching all over. His weak attempt to move resulted in immidiate and shocking pain. He lied still, suffering. Even thinking actually hurt *physically*. He tried to pass out, but couldn't. Through the pain he somehow managed to stand up. This room was empty - nothing but a bed in it's furniture. The only decoration was the blue Wyrdanian symbol painted on the metal wall. "Guess it's just one of those days..." thought Koobie, counting the fingers he didn't have...

Good, good! I really like the way things are shaping up. I'm trying to give you all a lot of free rein here, and y'all are doing great! However, please don't do anything drastic, like kill Lord Admiral Shorn. I'm going to say he wasn't killed. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Lord Admiral Shorn kneeled before his lord and master, Emperor Achren of Annuvin. "Your majesty," he said, "The Pyrrhic victory at Dalmos came about due to the fact that we were outnumbered four to one. These were odds intelligence did not report."

Achren gave no sign that he had heard. No movement whatsoever. And as for his facial expression. . . well, no one had ever seen his face, or even the eyes behind it. He wore a black felt mask that obscured everything about it. Shorn waited. Finally, the Annuivan emperor spoke. "I cannot lose an officer of your skills. However, you must still be punished for your incompetence. I had to have some of my forces rescue you from Fort Dalmos and heal you, and then I had to have them killed to maintain secrecy for the fact that you had miscalculated and was almost fatally shot."

Shorn grimaced, though he was grateful that he was at least being spared his life. . .

More later. . .

Koobie knew that the Wyrdanians were unlikely to keep an Annuvian prisoner alive after the upcoming interrogation. Of course, the Wyrdanians were not as heartless to their prisoners as the Annuvians, but the Annuvian practice to execute any war captices required an adequate answer from the Wyrdanians - so they introduced the same law, but it was only regarding Annuvian prisoners, not just any.

The only chance for survival was to escape before the interrogation. Koobie examined the cell closely. In the top left corner of the wallwith the Wyrdanina emblem was a ventilation shaft. It was a few centimeters above his reach; Koobie tried to pull the bed up, but it appeared to have been melted to the opposite wall.

The situation seemed hopeless when Koobie remembered a trick he learned from Nalik, his former hand-to-hand combat instructor.

Koobie stood right below the shaft, looking in the opposite direction. For a second he tried to concentrate all his remaining strenght and will in his legs. As that second elapsed, Koobie ran forth, right up the vertical wall, and, just when he was about to fall, he pushed himself back by kicking the wall with all his cybernetically enchanced might. His body was propelled in the opposite direction, and Koobie flew precisely in the shaft, breaking the shaft's lid with his head.

Thanking God for creating kinetics, Koobie advanced deeper into the narrow ventilation system.

After 20 minutes of exploring the ventilation system, Koobie understood that he was in some kind of a research facility. There were ventilation grills in almost every single room, and each grill was the borderline between the Wyrdanian installation and it's complex maze of ventilation shafts. By looking through the grills as he crouched in the shafts, Koobie discovered alot of compartments, prison cells (most of them were empty), and labaratories.

Then, all of a sudden, the light went out. The next moment it was already blinking red, mixed with the loudest siren noise Koobie had ever heard. At first he thought that his absense was finally discovered, but that was not the case.

Koobie, one thing you need to realize about stories is that they take TIME. Some people actually have LIVES outside of writing stories. School, work, romance, etc. People will write. Chamoy was ushered into the prince's presence. He nervously twiddled his fingers for a moment, then stopped when he realized what he was doing.

Gwyneth regarded him gravely; then his face broke out into a smile. "You did a very brave thing today, my lad. You saved my life. For that I am thankful."

"Yessir," Chamoy said anxiously.

Gywneth looked at him for a moment, then said, "Chamoy, I am founding an Elite Squadron of Wyrdainian fighters to combat Emperor Achren and the foul hordes of Annuvin. You more than proved your worth today." He then made the statement that shook the very foundations of Chamoy's world and made him quiver with excitement - "How would you like to join?"

-----

Prince Gwyneth was explaining his Elite Squadron to Llyr. "You have been our finest warrior and strategist in the war against Annuvin. I want you to be the leader of the Squadron."

"I accept," Llyr said, after a moment.

The prince smiled. "Thank you, Llyr. On behalf of all Wyrdain, I thank you.

"Meet your first member." Llyr turned as the door opened - and Chamoy walked in.

Llyr blinked. "My liege, he's just a boy!"

"A very skilled and brave boy, you know." Seeing Llyr's skeptical look, he added, "Please, Llyr. It will be a great boost for morale."

Slowly, Llyr nodded.

"No, you can't go."
Chamoy sighed. Trust Jomir to behave like the insolent pighead that he was. He couldn't see further than tomorrow's menu, let alone to the wider political implications of the war. All Jomir was worried about was losing another grunt he could order about.
"I'm sorry sir, it's the Prince's wish," broke in the guard Chamoy had asked to come down with him. Prince Gwyneth had looked bemused by the request, not realising how stubborn his Head Chef was with his workers, but had agreed.
"Well I fail to see why the Prince has an interest in this scrawny brat. He's useless. Can barely put in an hour's work without messing up and setting us back five hours," snarled the Chef.
"The Prince begs to differ, sir. This lad here saved his life today," continued the guard, uneasy at the chef's disrespectful tone.
Jomir's face turned an angry purple. "What have you been up to boy?" he bellowed. The background noise of the kitchen faded to silence, as the workers turned to see what was going on. Jomir turned and yelled at them "Get back to work you lazy scrags!"
When he turned back to Chamoy and the guard, Jomir was still furious. Chamoy suspected he was more so because he knew that yelling and shouting wouldn't do any good against "the Prince's wish".

Chamoy moved into the barracks that had been designated for the Elite Squadron. Prince Gwyneth was enthusiastic about Chamoy's bioelectrics, but his advisors were less thrilled. Gwyneth had to give ground, so Chamoy's first orders were simply "Continue investigation into feasability and produce a daily report."
It had been made very clear to him by Fella, one of the crabbiest men of Gwyneth's advisors, that that meant "Investigation, boy, not experimentation. We'll have no more of your immoral messing with bodies here."
Chamoy sighed as he completed yet another daily report. He didn't see the point of working like this. Without being able to experiment, he wasn't finding anything out, and it just meant he spent half the day trying to think up ways of saying he'd discovered nothing of significance today, whilst still trying to justify his position. He was getting dispirited, and so, it seemed, was the Prince, as the next day he found new orders waiting for him. They said: "Experiment, report when you have something to report". They were signed by Prince Gwyneth, but there was no counter-signature from the Advisors. Chamoy knew that Gwyneth was taking a great risk by going against the wish of the rest of his Board, and by sending orders without the required counter-signature. Chamoy didn't have to be told to keep this secret.

The way Gwyneth covered up the change in orders was to have Chamoy spend some of his time being trained in combat. Chamoy quickly realised why Llyr had been chosen to head this operation. Within weeks, Chamoy was fighting like a skilled warrior. Then came the first test. Orgoch had felt the prescence of another enchanter, out in the jungles of Forrestal. A powerful enchanter. Off the scale in terms of power. Orgoch persuaded Prince Gwyneth that the Annuvians would no doubt have spotted him, and if they hadn't, would do soon.
Gwyneth spoke to Llyr and Chamoy. "You two are the only members of the Elite Squadron at this time. It will grow, as we find more, but for now, make sure you both stay alive, understand? Get in, find that enchanter, get out again. If the Annuvians haven't noticed the magical disturbance, we don't want to alert them by sending in an army. However, we've got a squadron standing by if you turn out to need it. Remember boys, he's powerful, so we need him as an ally alive. But better that he die than ally with the Annuvians."
Llyr nodded his head grimly. A seasoned soldier, he understood the lengths it was necessary to go to. Chamoy stared blankly as the order sank in. If we can't persuade him to come with us, we murder him translated his mind.
Chamoy was quiet as he strapped himself in to the Scout Droid that he would be using. Llyr tried to reassure him with a smile, but it was a grim smile that didn't help at all.

Llyr and Chamoy were searching on the fifth day, when Chamoy picked something up. "What's that at four-two-eight, three-nine-seven?" he radioed to Llyr. Llyr checked the coordinates with his sensors.
"I'm not picking anything up," he called back.
"Don't use your sensors, use your eyes."
"Hey, not all of us have damn fancy implants in our heads" grumbled Llyr as he picked up his binoculars. "Yeah, there's some sort of haze up ahead"
Chamoy gestured, "Do we check it out?"
"Better had," returned Llyr.

A bubble was how Chamoy described it. Damn frightening was what Llyr called it. Sensor readings showed a blank.
"I'm going to walk through it," said Chamoy suddenly.
Llyr appraised the swirling surface with a critical eye. "You're nuts. Remember, the Prince told us to stay alive."
"He also told us to find the enchanter. This has got to be some form of magic protection."
"So what do you want to walk through it for? Protection you said. To keep unwanted people out, possibly permanently."
"Magic protection I said. Am I magic? No."
Before Llyr could stop him, Chamoy piloted his android through the bubble skin, and found himself face to face with a beautiful woman.
"Oh," she said, "you're a little short for a Scout Android pilot aren't you?"
"I'm here to rescue you."
Chamoy realised that, as greetings go, it was hardly brilliant, but he was in no doubt that this was the enchanter, or rather, enchantress, they had been searching for.
"Oh, how exciting, rescue me from what exactly?" she asked critically.
Chamoy felt stupid, until he heard the sound of a fleet of Annuvian Warships from outside the barrier.
"Uh, that."
Llyr's voice came through the radio as the enchantress's eyes opened wide with fear.
"Come on Chamoy, what's going on in there? We've got Annuvians bearing down on our position."
"Llyr, I've found the enchanter, he's a she."
"Hey, I've got a name. I'm Organa. Organa Fey."

Now let's go back to Rejko, whom we left in Everton forest near the crashed plane fighting Wyrdanian squadron.

The sneaky mutant-fox could move really quick, but still there was not a single noise to tell about his approach! That's why he was the first to attack. The 3 scientists were cut by his claws before they could make a scream or at least any sound, as for the Android, it was blasted by his Ion scalpel. The attack was so surprising, that the pilots in couldn't understand what hit them, and Rejko took his time by charging another Ion scalpel. The electric clouds surrounding his body were seen even far away in the forest. A second more and a sharp ray blasted into the second android which fell on the ground cut in 4 different parts. With the cry of victory Rejko jumped into the android's remains and shot a bolt of energy into the dark night sky. At this moment a ray of laser flew near him and made a hole in the near-tree. With the speed of thunder the fox jumped into the air. It was just in time, because a shower of laser charges flew under him. Still wile in the air Rejko turned his head and saw a lonely trooper with laser chaingun, who was sitting in ambush under the shadows of the forest. Not loosing any time Rejko concentrated and shot an entire hurricane of neutrons in the direction of marine. With the scream of agony the body of the prey turned into ash and fell into dust. All happened so quickly, that when he died Rejko was jus landing to the ground.

He didn't dare to make any more victory cries again and he checked all the dark places around the crash site to see if there were other snipers hiding somewhere. As there was nobody around he slowly came to the place where the remains of marine were and took his chaingun. It was a new model of turbo-blaster which had unlimited ammo. (The quantum cell recharged itself in a small period of time) Carrying weapons was not Rejko's stile, but after such a thunderstorm it will take some time for him to restore lost energy, but who knows what can happen next. In fact, this was one of Rejko's weaknesses, because after he uses all his energy it was restoring very slow and in that time he could defend himself only with claws and agility. But even with them he couldn't stand a battle with androids, because even one shot from 80mm slug cannon could turn him into a pool of meat and blood. His black skin-tight poly-leather suit (Yes, he wasn't running naked.) was hardly an armor. It was designed to protect him from scratches and from winter's cold, but not from guns. He couldn't wear any heavy gun-proof armor since his skeleton was not like human's and even if he steals one he wouldn't be able to put it on, but back to the real story.....

After collecting weapon of guard Rejko advanced towards the plane. It wasn't easy to get inside, and even as there were plenty of holes and cracks they were too small and to break inside Rejko had to use his steel-cutting claws ,but since the carrier was made from strong steel-alloys it took him about 25 minutes to enter the ship. Once inside the first thing that Rejko did was looking for the dead bodies ,but to his surprise he realized, that there were no people in it. "Than how on earth does this teen-can fly?" thought Rejko as he entered the ship's control cabin .It was probably the most undamaged part of the plane and all the controls were in place, that's why when Rejko had a closer look he almost fell with amusement. There were no seats and no operating wheel. The plane was operated by computer. "wild things are happening here, I wonder what do they carry here?" said Rejko to himself as he entered the cargo bay, and there he had a second amusement. As the solid steel door opened he realized that it was empty. The computer-piloted plane from some unknown fraction with no cargo in it was getting too much for Rejko and he decided to find out what was going on. Again he used his animal instincts to find something interesting, and after a long search he finally found another curious thing a carefully packed case which was hidden in a smaller room near the crew cabin. Since it was the only thing he could find, (And there was something special about it.) Rejko took it, got out from the wracked plane and disappeared in the forest. It was just in time since a new Wyrdain squadron soon appeared near the ship, but all the could find was an empty machine and some dead people and one half-dead scientist with many cuts on his body. He was whispering with terror something about the ghost-fox and was taken to one of Wyrdain labs to be healed and to tell what happened.

Ooo, very Falloutish, Zheka [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

The alarm was due the fact that a heavily injured person just came in, right from the crash site to where the KJ3 scout team was sent.

Koobie did not know that, and even if he would, he wouldn't have the slightest intention to care.

Right below him, a Wyrdanian escort guard stood. His shiny battle helmet was easily seen through the ventilation grill. Koobie forced the grill to open, grabbed the unlucky soldier by his neck, and pulled him up in the shaft. There with a few short but confident moves, Koobie broke the grunt's spinal cord.

Soon a man in a blue Wyrdanian battle armor walked out from the main entrance of the secret installation. His face was disguised by the wide face protecting battle helmet and his voice muffled by its voice reproductors...

Stealing an android would have been too risky, so now Koobie had to walk an unknown amount of miles in an absolutely unknown direction. Thinking about his microscopic chance of survival, Koobie stepped forth into the woods.

If you want, you can pull him (Koobie) out by your own means, do whatever you want, authors, just dont kill him. I'll be back after my comp is repaired

It was a dream or batter to say a nightmare. Booth of these cases were strange, because such a "creature" as Emperor Archon never saw any dreams when he was sleeping, but fact is fact, and we must admit that the most weird part of this nightmare was that it felt like reality. It all started when the emperor felt his soul going away from his body. A minute later he saw his fortress far behind, and than he felt he was flying over the endless ocean. It was miserably dark and only some light in the distance could be seen. As he came closer, the light turned into the plane, which was flying alone over the sea. There was some sort of light coming from inside of the machine, so it looked like a ghost-ship. The Emperor felt a could pressure of something living near him. "What can it be?", thought Archon and suddenly heard a deep voice in his own mind.....

"It's me master"
"Who are you?", asked Archon with fear
"I am the power"
"What power?"
"The power given to you and other master by Jere-Cuzhan to make his enchanting sooner."
"What do you mean by master, and what do you mean by sooner?", asked Archon again.
"The war you and Wyrdanians fight is getting too long, but Jere-Cuzhan can't wait any more. As for masters, only you and Prince Gwyneth can use me, only you or he can be my masters, no one else.", was the reply.
"Do we have to share you?"
"No, only one can take me."
"I'll take you than!!!!", half screamed Archon.
"How can you take me, if you are hundreds of kilometers away from me?" was the answer.
"But where are you now?"
"Flying in the cargo plane towards the costal region of the Wyrdanian country.", said the voice and it's all disappeared.
Next second Archon woke up....

(If anyone doesn't know who is Jere-Cuzhan, go back and read Highemp's first post.)
2002-04-22, 3:11 AM #34
An Annuvin Air commander Jajmer was filling miserable, as he went by the dark corridors of underground citadel called Andromore into the Archon's guest room.
"I wonder, what does the Emperor wants from me?" he thought to himself.
After some minutes walk he entered the room. Archon was already waiting for him there which was terribly strange of him, since he never arrived early. He was looking really worried which was also strange, since he never showed his emotions.
"Something happened, and I hope not because of me!" thought Jajmer
"Well.... OK...... first I shall ask you some questions..." said the Emperor in the gloomy voice and breaking the silence.
"Were there any suspicious things in the sky over the ocean sepparating us from Wyrdanian land?"
"What does your Majesty mean by special?" asked Jajmer.
"Well.... any unidentified lights, planes, objects?"
"Let me remember..." said Jajmer: "Yesterday we had: one small Wyrdanian attack, air training of new-comers, a carrier from somewhere and a....."
"FROM WHERE??!!!"
"How can I know, we just saw one flying towards the Wyrdanian territories, we lunched a missile in him and left him falling, it wasn't ours so probably it was their...."
"PROBABLY, HOW CAN YOU SAY PROBABLY.... YOU DOGMEAT... GET LOST OR I'LL FLAY THE SKINN OFF YOU!!!"
Like a thunder the frightened man ran away and left the Emperor alone with his rage.
"I must do something", whispered Archon to himself: "The dream came true and soon my enemies will become Gods!"

A couple of minutes after a voice of Emperor was heard in a main ware control tower where battle-plans and strategies were discussed.
"Take ALL the Judge-warriors we have in this region and drop them on the coast of Gammorer, it's a task of A-importance1"
"But master if we send ALL of our Judges into that territory our ocean line is in danger of counter attack!", said one of the commanders.
"Forget it, we are in grave danger already!" was the Emperor's answer.
After 4 hours a giant army of 1100 Judges was dropped on Wyrdanian territories. Battle of Coast of Gammorer was about to begin.

It's Achren, not Archon. Also, remember, he has a black felt mask covering his face, so it's hard to determine his emotions. :P Could you tell us what Gammorer is, please? Also, I'm having some difficulties with the computer lately, and I would greatly appreciate it if you all could kinda wait on the story until I get back. Thanks! In the meantime, Shawn Templar asked me to post this for him:

-----

"Ahh, finally free from it all" the figure said as he walked through the forest shrouded in darkness. The light gleamed through the treetops faintly lighting up the forest. "You could probably hide an entire infantry unit in this forest and no one would probably ever know till it was too late........Yeah I know........A SCOUT UNIT HEADED THIS WAY!?!?.........have they picked us up?.............yeah, gonna have to stay hidden as they fly by.........your already powered the systems down?..... good..............ok ok ok, so you know me too well. I expect that after all this time after all...................we will only fight if we must..............if that happens then they will all die with no mercy................why do you think I left in the first place. I was too dangerous and you loved that about me.................I know, that's why I don't fight anymore, for that fear only.............enough of this. just get everything ready. I'll stay here and monitor everything that happens. If they find you tell me. They must not report our positions to anyone, I don't want to get pulled into this war. *Sigh* The things I have to go though just to be left alone." the figure said as he stopped in place and looked to the sky. Concentrating, listening to nothing but the almost inaudible sound of the scout planes engines as they came ever closer. I wonder if he thought of using this place as a small outpost. If so he's in for a suprise. He thought as he leaned up against a tree awaiting the arrival of the planes.

I'm back, but Gouldragon, I need to know what Gammorer is. Also, are you saying Jere-Cuzhan is in that carrier plane? That wouldn't actually be possible, b/c he is in the dark dimension Tartarades. If he were outside of Tartarades, he wouldn't need to bond with Achren or Prince Gwyneth; the only reason he's willing to bond with one of them is that they are his means out of Tartarades! Sorry if I didn't make that clear. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

I'll suppose that "Gammorer" is a location, and just go on... I may be wrong, however...

It was the second day Koobie spent in the unknown woods. He walked miles and miles without an end, suffering from dehydration. But then, as the day was coming to end, the place seemed somehow more familiar... Soon, Koobie realised that he is somewhere in the deep Gammorer woods - the place where he was training to become one of the elite pilots of the Annuvian army. But that was long, long time ago... It was before Koobie was changed... His memories concerning his life before the series of cybernetical surgeries were always foggy, but he was absolutely sure that he was in the Gammorer Wood, and no place else.

Whaaaaaaaa... This exactly what happens when you don't visit Massassi for a long time: questions, answers and tons of text to read! By the way, did you receive my mail Highemperor? Probably not, in this case I'll put here some from that mail and my explanations now. Minute, too much to write, I'll make a plan.

PLAN
1)Explanations
2)Rejko's future
3)Why is he so powerful

1) First I can tell that Koobie guessed correctly that Gammorer is the name of the forest region. This name doesn't mean anything, but sounds cool. Second if you were reading attentively, you could find that it wasn't the Jere-Cuzhan who was talking to Emperor but the power given to him. It was not God, but the special artifact, which was packed in a case Rejko stole from the plane. Who sent the plane and how does the artifact look you will soon know. He is still in that Tartara..... (hard to spell) so you don't have to worry. It is also important to mention that only Achren or Prince Gwyneth can use it, since it was sent only for one of them, so don't be afraid of Rejko becoming more powerful. Hope it is clear now.

2)This is my future story: As you may see Rejko has got the artifact which in the hands of Achren or Prince Gwyneth can end the war. (don't worry, I won't let it happen, or minimum only after 10000 posts! :-))) ) Sure that both of them want to get it. Emperor from his dream and Gwyneth from scientist Rejko left alive near the carrier plane. This means that they will try to catch the fox and get it, (Not bad job for Gwyneth's Elite Squadron!) but since they will fight with each other too Rejko will always have the chance to escape. Finally he will die together with the artifact. I didn't decide how yet, but probably he will fall into lava or acid.
>>>> If you don't like some parts of story or want to add something new fill free to tell!

3)When I was making my character I made him much stronger than other characters. The reason why I made him this way is because he is always alone and has no android or powerful weapons, I gave him powerful Psi-abilities instead. To survive he needs these skills and as you may see from his future adventures he won't feel comfortable anyway. By your request I weakened him a little in my 3rd post. Also since he hates both Wyrdain and Annuvin he won't contribute to anybody's victory. And he won't because he is doomed to die a horrible death, ending his malice.
P.S. While writing this I was thinking that this end is too grim. Maybe I will resurrect Rejko, or won't kill him at all. If you think this way tell me.

Hmm, very interesting, Gouldragon. However, I was planning for the struggle for Jere-Cuzhan's power to be only the FIRST STAGE of the story, not all of the story. So if you want Rejko to die, that's fine, but you may not wish him to die right at the end of this stage. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif] Actually, I'm holding back a few secrets about this story that will be revealed in their own time. Such as this secret I'm about to post, for which the time has come to be revealed. Bwahahahahahahahaha- *cough* [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

Orgoch hurried through the halls of Cathyl. She had to see Prince Gwyneth right away.

Orgoch was the enchantress protectress of Wyrdain, whose powerful magicks safeguarded its people. She had raised Llyr from infancy, but had told him nothing of his origins save that all his family had been massacred save him.

"My lord," she addressed the prince, "in my study of the ancient texts, I have come across a grave secret.

"Jere-Cuzhan, whose power we seek, is a false god."

Ach, gotta go, will finish later.

Now to continue. . .

Gwyneth blinked. "What?"

"He is a false god. Evil. In an age long past, the warrior king Solman banished him to the dark dimension Tartarades in order to keep him from visiting his evil power upon the land of Forrestal."

"And now that vile Achren seeks to unleash that power upon us," Gwyneth mused.

"We cannot take Jere-Cuzhan's power ourselves, for that would surely corrupt as much as the Emperor of Annuvin has been."

"A vexing dilemma," the prince agreed. "However, we must still prevent the power from falling into Achren's hands. I shall send the Elite Squadron at once!"

There, there's that little "secret" I was holding back. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]
